IMAX Laser and something called ScreenX with 270deg viewing with Hoyts expansion in NZ. Sylvia Park is mentioned:

The article is not 100% clear if NZ will get the Laser option. Definitely more IMAX coming anyway.

Interesting on what's Imax vs Imax actually is and means off the back of The Odyssey, where the laser vs 'film' and the actual difference and coverage of what was 'shot'

Pretty sure there is no plain "Digital iMax" ... "with laser" is basically branding and its either Film or that,

I doubt we'll get Film Imax back in NZ, Queen street was originally film when it opened, but it went digital at some point....

Melbourne is the nearest Film Imax, and its the only one in OZ...

You're most likely correct. We have a VMAX here in Tauranga which is better than nothing but doesn't compare to the real screen size of IMAX.. Anyone know how many theaters in NZ can still show normal 70mm films??

Most digital imax screens are 1.90 ratio versus the ‘full’ iMax which is 1.43. Therefore they lose the full height picture of a full imax screen. The only full imax screen in NZ is Queen St. Queen St was 70mm but was converted to 2k digital in 2013 :(
