Hi there guys/girls

I have another harvey norman question for you!

I purchased a lounge suite from them 2 weeks ago via hire purchase when they had there 30month deal, now I am still to receive the lounge which is fine as I was told there was a small wait when I brought it.

The question is, I brought the lounge for $2400 and I have just noticed today that the lounge is now on sale for $1990. Am I within my rights to go back and get that sale price for the lounge seeing I have not received my goods yet so the sale is not complete and the hire purchase has not started? also there 30 month deal is current with this new price.

any help would be great.

cheers

J

IMO you are not entitled to it. Unless they have a policy where they offer a moneyback or price match guarantee.
You accepted, when you purchased the goods, that they would be delayed. Unfortunately, with most big purchases, the price can change, and usually does not long after you have made your purchase.
You can try asking them, and see what they say, but you might find they can only offer it as credit/goods.

Also, the hire purchase starts 14 or 30 days from the date you completed the paperwork. Ie, that is when your first payment is due, so there is always a 'deferred' payment of x days. So I think you will find, your hire purchase has already started.

my guess is: No.

you could try and they might do it as a gesture of goodwill, but pretty sure that legally there is no requirement for them to honour the new price.

they dont have to. but you can "return" or cancel the purchase. and the re-sign another deal. our friend does it all the time, they return stuff and rebuy them but they pay cash, and on smaller stuff like cameras.

Cancel the deal and get a friend to buy the suite for you if HN won't play ball, but a lot of companies will simply reduce the amount you'll need to pay back.

Just a note on finance under law the finance cannot start till you receive the goods GE money check on retailers regularly by ringing new customers to make sure they have the goods.
