quickymart: Something I forgot to ask - have you mentioned this to your local MP? What did they say (just curious)?

I think of all things we suggested we never said this?

I know. I was just curious to see what they might have said to him.

Even better is that she's the Labour ICT Spokesperson...

Embed super duper speed-test, see last nights result was approximately 15% of this mornings result...

That's better. Make sure you use the net off peak and you will be sussed.

Yep I know, when I schedule my errrr "backups" from the Internet in the wee hours or day while everyone at work/school speed is about that continuously.  However from 3pm everyday till about bed time there is the big congestion down to 15% full line speed.

More street walking today, more signatures, as suggested I asked if people would be happy to pay more for a better service, mostly a neutral response, some yes some no we pay enough and if the congestion were gone they'd be happy sort of comments.  Only asked a couple if they would pony up for new gear to get better Internet from elsewhere (not naming names though) for a superior service, they would look at the option but would prefer the current service fixed first.  Everyone knows the service has deteriorated over the last year and they are all wishing me the best in this endeavour...

Tim

P.S. embedded image of current speed on par with usual slowdown at this time of day...

Mostly a neutral response? They said they didn't care? Interesting.

No not that they didn't care more like I hope your petition gets this sorted but if not we'll put up with what we have (typical kiwi response accept what's given), I've only asked maybe 15 people their opinion on paying a bit more.

Really depends on how you use the net too, if mostly facebook games and emails etc then the congestion wouldn't be too noticeable, hoewever youtube or other streaming services that in the evening take time to start then continuously re-buffer are visible and then of course are those that work in the day and only use the internet in the evening and don't know any better...

So people there aren't really willing to pay more for faster/better internet. What next?

@NZtimbo People sign Petitions without even thinking / reading and this has been proven time and time again!

Great example petition for better mobile coverage but when resource consent is submitted to build a new site the same people will sign another Petition for ' Ban the tower '

@quickymart
Two posts above the one you replied to I did say some would pay more but their preference is to get the deteriorated service fixed first. Kind of like a huge pot hole in the road, why should residents along the road pay for a new road when their taxpayer money should go into the upkeep of the road not just everyone else’s roads.

@johnr
First world problems... I could bet there would be a number of those sorts of examples.

More walking over the weekend and many more signatures...

Tim

Did you then tell them that it isn't actually broken? As has been said many many many times. It is just the type of service available is "sub-par" compared to city broadband.
