So Timbo...when you get enough signatures for your petition and you present it to, um...whoever, what timeframe are you giving them to "fix" the situation to your satisfaction? Days? Weeks? Months?

Take it easy on him, he said his marriage is over a page or 2 back. Interwebz is probably not his top priority presently.

He should put forward to a local ISP (Maybe Snap as they are local) to roll out UCLL gear in there. Far more likely than Chorus, RBi wireless is already there. I know that Chorus wont touch this exchange.

They could charge a special rate of $200 a month until its paid itself off!

Hi All

Thanks for the support, yea marriage over, I would highly recommend not going through this, loosing everything is depressing, having to tell your daughter that mum no longer loves dad is not an enjoyable conversation, sleepless nights, lost 5kg so far too.  But they do tell me it gets better...

So I've gone around the streets on Sunday for the last time (woo hoo) and collected the forms from the shops etc and I've collected 475 signatures, quite a respectable result.  The town has 282 dwellings and 708 residents, so 475 minus the double ups and invalid signatures we've got a good portion of the town covered.

When Chorus responded to Clare Curran's request they said they have "no current plans", this doesn't mean they will not sit down and talk options.  If our voice falls on deaf ears with the interest it has generated we should be able to generate further interest to go an alternative route easily.  Of course the xDSL route is best for families as they keep their existing gear with no additional cost but time will tell.

In the weekend I came across one home where their son was house bound, had a university degree which he used the Internet to study for but has become so frustrated with the poor speed lately he just sits at night and watches the TV, he can't communicate with his friends as he want's to because of the congestion issues.

Tim

P.S. zooooooom

You lose credibility when you say stuff like that.

Can't communicate with his friends? Really? Texting, Facebook? Twitter? Actual phone calls?

What did we do before internet? Remember the days when "broadband" was 256kbit? 600kbit during peak is still broadband and is still plenty for most websites, just tell him to stop his downloads and tell him to get off YouTube etc.

"Uses the internet for study" I know plenty of University students who survive off Woosh Wireless. In University areas that is about 200kbit average but yes, it is faster than dial-up and they get by fine. Tell him to stop complaining.

There is no issue there. easily load web pages, research and listen to a live radio at the same time.
Luckily the ping is climbing to 100+

I have a staff member out there that can't even maintain a usable Citrix session to connect back into work this is with various routers, ethernet rather than wifi and a master filter install. Say what you like about whos job it is to do something about it, the fact is it's crap, unusable DSL out there.

That doesn't seem too bad.  You'd definitely be able to play BF4 on a PS4 very nicely with that result.  Ping is good too.  ALRIGHT, LETS BRING ON DRAGON'S TEETH (new map due out soon).

I am assuming you are implying they have a congested line?
Unfortunate for them.

Agreed, the dramatics and emotion need to be removed from this so the situation has a greater chance of succeeding.
