EyrewellMc:

Hi, from the look of the map you created our upgrade should happen this Thursday, 24/05/2018. I currently just have the Spark Huawei HG630b and have never upgraded the firmware.

I have VDSL and must be on the very limit as we are just under 2km's from the roadside cabinet. Getting 22Mbps download and just over 1.5Mbps upload. this was a big jump from the ADSL we previously had.

The info on here has been very interesting and I am hoping we will benefit but have a couple of questions

1. is the HG630b compatable with the vectoring and do i need to update the firmware?

2. at the distance we are from the cabinet can i realistically expect much of an increase in speeds?

Thanks in advance.

Chris

1. yes, I'd recommend upgrading your firmware though.

2. you will likely rise about 4-8mbit down, which isn't too bad for the distance :)

Hi,

thanks for the quick reply. I will do the update to the firmware tonight then.

I was hoping for an increase so it will be interesting to see what happens. Must remember to screen shot some connection details and compare after the firmware update and then also once vectoring is in place.

Cheers

Chris

Have been reading this thread with interest; and note that my local cabinet SPE_G was supposed to gain Vectoring last night between 2300-0600L.

Whilst I cannot tell specifically weter this has happened i did witness changes to my profile overnight - moved from 8B to 17A.  Is this an expected change when vectoring is enabled?

I run a Draytek DV130 as indicated in the pre and post screenshots below.

Sync really hasnt changed much - upstream maybe a little boost - but I had hoped for more!

No. The 8B -> 17A migration has happened independently. I got mine months ago.

You have some pretty marginal connection speeds there.

Oh yes - Speed is pretty poor - but the cabinet *was* serviced by a Conklin and ADSL1 around a year ago - so its a big jump in the right direction for me!

Is there any way to tell wether Vectoring has been enabled - apart from calling the SP and getting them to line check?  I see no indication on the DV130 to indicate this.

Cheers

If you are running Draytek gear ie DV130 make sure you are running Modem 4 or modem 8 Firmware as STD doesn't support vectoring
Very important !!

It should say on the initial GUI screen near bottom if vectoring is enabled (does on a DV2860)
I can confirm this tomorrow morning when my change over is due with my DV130

On DV2860's from memory you need Modem 2 firmware for vectoring

Ah yes - its running 8.  I havent tried 4.

v130_382_modem_8.all

Released in March. No indication on the initial GUI to confirm Vectoring is "on"

Will be interested to hear your feedback.

Cheers,

Dave

Your good, Modem 8 is now recommended for NZ with 3.8.2
Modem 4 used to be recommended and 8 was for Aussie NBN
Don't fiddle too much or ddDLM will come in and slow you up.

EDIT
I see in your picture that vectoring should show (as it does on a DV2860) under Interfaces
I'll check mine in morning

Looks to me like those cabinets got switched but didn't come right.

Chorus have a tool that detects i it fails to activate on the hardware, in this case it will fallback to no vectoring (although profile active)

BMarquis:

Hi guys,

TAW_AC was 1 of a small group (8 DSLAMs) which didn't have vectoring enabled as planned last night.
These 8 ISAMs were picked up by the deployment tool as having a hardware or software issue which prevented the switch on of Vectoring.

Due to planned work notification lead times, these will be added to some kind of wash-up night at the end of the deployment.

Apparently some exchanges have been enabled for vectoring but the vectoring hasn't actually been switched on.

MU_U as well as KIT_G would have been one of those that failed too?

Thanks hio77 - appreciate the response - was SPE_G part of that list of failures?  Do you know when the end of Deployment is scheduled?

Cheers,

Dave

Apologies, something was not quite right with this DSLAM.  Please check again now.
