wellygary:
wasabi2k: Got my second letter - starting work today (14th August) Finishing by October 14.

I will ring Telecom/Spark tonight and see if there is any way to get lined up for a quick install.

Once they have finished the physical work, there is still another at least couple of weeks to provision the actual fibre from the local distributor to the individual drop points,

Once that is done they will allow ISPs to start signing up customers, then you have to go through the scoping and provision of fibre from the drop point to your house.

If you are lucky, you might have a live active conenction by the end of the year,  the final install to your house will take longer to happen than you think/want

Yeah not expecting to be live on the 15th of October - but will remain optimistic. Nothing but lawn from the kerb to our house - we own it, nothing shared.

Likely you will be set for a speedy install then once things are ready :)

Trucks outside our house this morning and lots of random holes in the ground.

Big drilling machine with a guy down the road with a box on the ground pointing - so suspect that is the directional drilling going on.

Bit truck with roll of green ducting at the top of the road too.

Poor guys out there in the pouring rain - at least the ground is soft.

Got a postcard thing today from Vodafone saying that our street has UFB available now.  I remember seeing a handful of Chorus trucks up and down the street a month or two back.  Tempted to jump into UFB since it's cheaper UFB/VodafoneTV is cheaper than our current ADSL+/SKY combo.

Update 11/09:
Our road was finished a week ago - green ducts/cables sticking out by each house. They are working up the road around the corner, not sure how big an area they are doing.

Workers out yesterday repouring concrete paths (2 sections only) where they were damaged by the diggers - not a lot of damage to the street otherwise.

SOOOO EXCITED.

Spark chat person also pointed me here:

to sign up for notification when Fibre is available at my address.

Enable started laying 3 weeks ago, (ChCh) and Chorus ETA is November 2014, so thats a rough guide. They are around the corner right now, and a cable poking out of my partly dug up berm.

wasabi2k: Got the Chorus letter today - UFB is coming to our street.

Stoked as we were originally by Jun-16, then Apr-15, now install is started.

I'm assuming it's roughly a 2-3 month process to get the street done?

I'm in Massey, West Auckland.

Looking forward to 100/30 or better.

I'm over in Avalon in Lower Hutt (close to Naenae college) and it wasn't scheduled until June 2016 but apparently they're starting the process already. The letter arrived in the mail on Friday so it'll be interesting to see what the time table is going to be - what is the usual time between receiving the letter and it actually being switched on/available for the masses?

So our road has been "finished" for a while now.

1. The green ducts runs were sticking out at each house.
2. They were then buried and black caps sticking out of the ground.
3. Last weekend we had people coming round and putting grass seed and soil on the bits that were dug up.
4. Also had 2 segments of pavement relaid and finished which were damaged.
5. Seen a chorus van up the road with guy working in new trench/holes with covers on them.

Due date is October 31 - I see they are working on surrounding roads so assume they do an entire area before making it available.

@kawaii - They started our road start of September and there is a sign by the work stating October 31 as the end date.

Having said that - that is when it is available to request - then you have to wait for scoping and install.

Update 30/10:
Most of the surrounding area looks to be done - completion date was meant to be tomorrow.

Spark website estimate is 30/11
Chorus Map estimate is Nov-2014

I've signed up for email alerts and will be checking the website so let's see.

I'm in the royal heights area as well but my street is still showing pale blue in the coverage maps. So depressing.

I still want to hear from anyone in that area who gets UFB and has direct line of sight to the red secondhand furniture place on Triangle Road in front of Al's Mechanical (close to Western Lights pub).  Likely streets are Cedar Heights Ave, Benchmark Dr, Redwood Dr, Colwill Ave.
