Moved house in Jan so only have figures from then.

Apr - May 99,800
Mar - Apr 63,974
Feb - Mar 42,114
Jan - Feb 86,259

We had been looking at dropping sky and using legal content on demand services so usage might have gone up. I say might have as I'm on bigtime and with that being canned so are my alternate plans right now.

Speaks for itself really. My ISP doesn't count uploads, but according to my firewall I average  40 - 50GB per month in uploads. We're a family of five, with six computers, an iphone and four iPod touches, so I think we do pretty well :P

Downloads are shaped to 256k when i exceed my limit - uploads remain uncapped.

who is that with?

kyhwana2:
allstarnz: about 45-60GB a month on a 60GB plan. Would probably use more if a plan allowed it.

Stupid that no ISP's offer affordable larger cap plans

I don't have a cap, I just per $1.02/GB (charged per MB)

likewise, who is that with?

Billing month:

Jul09 - 3.4GB
Aug09 - 1.8GB
Sep09 - 31.1GB
Oct09 - 34.0GB
Nov09 - 9.7GB (zero upload)
Dec09 - 4.1GB (zero upload)
Jan10 - 12.9GB
Feb10 - 9.2GB
Mar10 - 11.2GB
Apr10 - 3.3GB
May10 - 10.6GB
June10 - 9.8GB (so far - because Steam is forcing me to redownload all 16GB of ETW for some dumb reason)

that is an average of around 10GB per month (median of 9GB). quite a variance in usage month to month for me. Spent a lot of the summer outdoors and with new baby so veyr little time for watching movies (and so consequently no need to download them either)

all on bigtime except for May, when I switche dhalfway thorugh to adventure (20GB plan)

allstarnz quoted two different people. The first is on iiNet, the other looks to be Xnet.

Not sure how the free offpeak factors into that all. I basically use it as I like and then begrudgingly pay the bill. If things are not finished in the free offpeak (usually they are not) then I will run them in the paid time.

You can see charts of the bandwidth at http://www.pachube.com/feeds/3721 - I forgot to start downloads last night because I had a nap that turned into an unplanned sleep

I really think that to make a very good use of the Internet (youtube HD etc) then 100GB is a standard. Its a shame that not all ISPs offer plans for people consuming large amount of data (and willing to pay for a decent service).

To put this into perspective, I come from New Caledonia, a very small island (between Sydney and Auckland) which is similar to NZ for Internet since 99% of the content is international. Well, all their plans are unlimited, uncapped, unmanaged but with slower speeds.
For instance, a 512Kbps symmetrical ADSL line cost NZ$110/month which corresponds to 158GB/mth without counting the upload if used continuously.
It is interesting to note that they buy their bandwidth to AAPT in Australia which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Telecom New Zealand.
