pjamieson: Back on Topic Please - There have been recent improvements around the Outram area and I have asked Timbo to run some tests over a 7 day period and report back to me.

But given everything going on for him, that may not be for a while.

exciting news!

Will be very interested to hear how much of an improvement it makes!

Oops, missed that post. What were the improvements made (just out of curiosity)?

my parents live in a rural community of 500 people and get <0.5mbit/sec anytime during the day. In the middle of the night it goes up to about 1.5mbit/sec. They sync at 7.5mbit/sec (ADSL1).

You've got it good.

All... Please stay on topic, I don't mind a note of topic but a number of posts about someone's shenanigans isn't needed...

TimA helped with some information for me so I have no bones to chew with him.

@rjking
thank you for helping me shift

I'm now within mmm 30m of the fibre duct that can be used to feed houses on the road leading into Outram, might have to see if it be possible to have it here.

Don't have all my stuff set up yet so can't do any additional speed tests and only got a few in last week. My server still runs the half hour tests and the TrueNet probe does its job as well. When I last looked at the site there was no improvement butiI need to get my server back up and running first... Other priorities first, like finding where everything is packed, or squeezing something out of the garage...

When I can afford the time soon I'll post and provide @pjamieson with some results...

Hopefully you can get some results to see if things are looking better Tim.

30M from fibre? which can be used? used as in ufb or P2P? sounds like you personally might have options... Outram could be a different story.. maybe with the upgrades pjamieson has mentioned though...

Welcome back TimA :D

Good luck with the cabinet connection, I have 'distribution' fibre going right along my new land boundary, but am extatic myself to even be in 'slow' 17mb/s VDSL range :)

Now if only my current house would sell so I can move!

I think this is what he is meaning:

There is Rural Fibre around there for people to pay to get. If you go through an ISP like Unleash you'll be able to tap into that, set up your own WISP and resell to other people with "speed issues"

So Tim, how's your fibre connection coming along? Or your petition? Or your submission?

Hi All

Still not in a happy place yet, no settlement yet...

So, on topic, @quickymart as I'm renting a rather old house until I can find something more suitable for the long term I won't be trying to hook into the fibre duct across the road, my understanding of it is that when layed they put junctions opposite driveways along it's route, this happened on the other side of the bridge coming into Outram but across the bridge and opposite me there are no junctions.  For the duration here I don't think plonking a few hundred dollars for a WISP connection is good usage of my now limited funds.  As Parliament has only just been sworn in they will only now be starting to table items for discussion so time to wait my friend.

Took a while to get the interwebz hooked back up due to first Chorus Tech not hooking up the right house and the Second Chorus Tech takning a bit of time to come out.

With the server back up and running I've let it carry on with its half hourly tests and for entertainment I've attached a fresh graph below.

As can be seen the congestion is still there and getting worse, I've passed these onto @pjamieson for comment.  My TrueNet probe also corroborates this in a more official capacity.

Tim
