Just picked this up today and plugged it in without a bridge to a router, speeds are surprisingly higher then what I was getting with my Vodafone Station (I'm still connected to Vodafone ADSL atm).

These are my stats, still learning what this all means so not sure if its good or not. Let me know :).

Also does this give you an indication of how well VDSL will work over this line?

Those stats look decent. The important figures are the Loop Att and the SNR. Loop of 9 is pretty decent, so yes, your VDSL should be pretty decent as long as your house wiring is good and clean.

My loop is around 0-3 on ADSL. Strangely, when the Vigor 130 is in VDSL2 mode it no longer displays the Loop Attenuation statistic. Anyways, with 3db attenuation I'm synching at 48mbps/10mbps....so pretty much as fast as is possible. YMMV, but I'd guess you'd be in the high 30's to low 40's on the downstream rates.

A mates one of these was constantly crashing. RMA'd it. Replacement seems to be doing the same thing.

That sort of suggests it might be something to do with his line or his particular configuration. Odds of a back-to-back failure experiencing the same problem are pretty unlikely. Especially on Draytek gear which seems to be of a pretty decent build quality. It's possible, but highly unlikely. When you say 'crashing' do you mean dropping connection or does even the WebUI lockup?

Hrmm...interesting....any chance of testing the gear on a different line to see if it really is back-to-back DOA units or something about the particular network/setup/environment

Said friend here. I've found I can recreate the crash with 100% accuracy when I connect my mac to the modem. It restarts and the time resets on the modem. It also crashes when I try to connect to a VPN on my main PC.
However, if I don't connect to a VPN nor connect with my Mac it stays stable.

Not sure what's up with that :\

Disregard that, seems VPN servers don't crash the Vigor but my Macbook still does.
It looks like it's an issue with NAT-PMP / UPnP as the pcap files I've grabbed from the mac side seem to show that the Mac requests uPnP forward a port for Find My Mac and then the Vigor crashes right after this. However Windows does not have this problem if I map ports using uPnP :s

Additionally: The Vigor log isn't Verbose enough at all. (key things to note, date/time resetting from Dec 29 to Jan 1)

Sorry for the triple post but it seems you cannot edit your posts after a certain time frame.

There are potentially two minor releases since the latest NZ sanctioned firmware releases however Draytek does not have a release note for previous firmware only the most current.

The latest adds support for G.993.5 vectoring not useful at all but i'm curious to see if the 3.7.4 release fixes any issues. (not updating firmware currently as i'm not sure if Draytek firmware globally is the same as the New Zealand firmware through Snappernet). Although if the crashes continue I might have to try as i'm running out of options! (additionally Snap has put me in the highest latency interleaving mode due to the crashes, higher latencies than if I connect via XT hurrah.)

Edit:

Disregard that, CRC checked an older version and it seems that nothing is modified - Snappernet just hosts the latest stable version they have tested.

.. Seeing my version was not stable I decided to take the plunge, and now it is!

Tested with two Macs that used to cause problems all the time, connecting and disconnecting from VPN and spamming the packets that used to crash the Vigor at it and it's still stable.

Now all I need to do is get Snap to reset DLM and it's a day!

Another Edit:

Seems like IPv6 in client mode is still not working, probably something wrong with my settings though. Has anyone else gotten IPv6 working on the Vigor 130 with snap?

byronpaul: Try setting as 1483 bridged IP LLC & then clicking the bridge button. Retry you PPPoE initiator.
I've seen 1 x case where this was required over the last week for a Telecom VDSL connection. No previous reports on Snap circuits.

NOTE: Clicking the bridge button has no effect when using IPoE.

this trick works for me! using airport extreme. My isp is BigPipe.

Aside from the quirky issue I had with configuration (as mentioned in my earlier posts), mine is running like a champ. I'm always synched up at max VDSL speeds.

Current stats from the admin interface are:

DSL Connected : Down Stream : 57528Kbps / Up Stream : 10332Kbps

I ended up buying the Zyxel last year because of the problems with the 130 Draytek. It's been steady as a rock and I can't remember the last time I needed to reboot the thing. Getting 45+ down and around 8 up most of the time - sometimes better.

I would however be interesting to compare the two on the same line, on the latest firmware. Anyone up for it? :)
