Does anyone know how the limits are set? Is it Enable that dictates the speed of the connection or is it up to the ISP to throttle things on their end?

There's a speed limit on Enable end and there may or may not be one on your ISP end too. They're independent and you'll get the lower of the two limits.

After the fault was logged with Orcon I ended up in a conference call with Orcon and Enable doing some speed tests while they monitored the connection.
It sounds like they've tracked down where the issue is and it's at least partially sorted for me (I'm getting 160/25 on speed tests).
They said they'd look into it further which I assume means they will decide exactly what needs to be changed to fix it properly for everyone.

I'm also with Orcon. It took 3 days after receiving the email before I saw a change in speed, but getting 150 instead of 200. A friend of mine is on 2degrees and he's only getting 150 as well so presumably it affects lots/all users and will be fixed for everyone eventually hopefully without any effort on the users part.

I was cut over to 200/20 quite early (Chch, 2D), but speed dropped to 150/20 this week. This morning it is 160/23. Pings have gone up to 100ms / 60ms to local Chch 2D speedtest servers.

Can anyone else with Orcon confirm that they're getting 200/20? We're still sitting at ~160/23.

Have to say I was a little disappointed when I called Orcon about it and they tried to brush it off by asking if it was actually impacting our usage. I get that it's a free upgrade and anything better than 100/20 is great but if they're not able to deliver the speeds they say they will then they should just state what they can/will provide.

I'm on Orcon, still getting 150ish. I logged a fault with them and they brushed me off, saying that 150 is near enough to 200 that they would consider it OK. They also tried to justify it by saying it was a free upgrade. I don't care though, as far as I'm concerned I'm now paying for 200/20 and I expect to get it.

They did eventually escalate it to level 2 and had me use a little utility I downloaded from linetest.nz which does an iperf and gathers some other system info then sends it to them, that was on Tuesday afternoon and so far I haven't heard anything back.

Looks like Enable is stuffing up. Seems to be across multiple ISP’s.

They need to say it’s only 150/20 or otherwise fix it, my turn on Friday next week if 2degrees swap over happens when suppose to.

They can do 900/500 so don’t know why 200/20 a problem unless it’s to many people, but they should’ve planned for that.

I'm afraid not. There is something else pretty amazing that our BB tribe are devoting a lot of time to at the moment that will benefit everyone so the decision was made to prioritise that above the upgrade just for Chch enable Fibre100 users.

I'm based in Chch and am on Fibre100 myself, so I'd like to see it sooner rather than later, but knowing what the team are working on I'm happy they've made the right call.

At this stage it looks like it might be early next year before the 200 upgrade is done.

Cheers - N

Have to be honest here - I think provisioning 200Mbit in line with the other ISP's should be a higher priority than what you're currently doing only because the customer has no idea what you're doing and it could be seen as Spark being slow to innovate (which has been the case for ages).

Even if what you're working on is awesome the customer doesn't know this - they just want 200Mbit and many will vote with their feet to an ISP that is fast to implement such changes.
