Hey @OzoneNZ, appreciate the excitement! I'm afraid you'll have to wait until September until our Hyperfibre roll out is complete. ^Matt

has anyone got this yet? its meant to have been available in pilot areas for a few months now. But can't see anyone posting about/or doing speedtests etc. anywhere.

I have a 10gb setup at home ready to go, running SFP+ DAC to my Desktops, and plan to have a 802.11ax AP or two running off of it too. From what I can see the Nokia ONT they supply has 10G but only over RJ45, so I will probably just get a RJ45 to SFP+ module for between the ONT and my SFP+ switch.

When they say "September" do they mean all UFB areas? or just commencement of some form of rollout? Their page points to the address checker, but the address checker says nothing about hyperfibre, just says I am on "fastest 1G" and thats it - bit misleading to send people there.

@peterxxmeme I'd hold off on 802.11ax as the standard hasn't been finalized yet (still in draft), for most things using a decent 802.11ac access point like the UniFi NanoHD will suffice fine. All the consumer grade ax rubbish has Gigabit LAN only and don't have the horsepower to successfully route Gigabit yet-alone 4Gbit.

This is also a very interesting read: https://www.duckware.com/tech/wifi-in-the-us.html

The ont has a Multi-gig (1/2.5/5/10G) copper port, so yea a 10GBASET will do it. Of course what will you use for a gateway is the question? There is an RGW/ONT trial underway but that's not generally available right now. I'm using a Mikrotik RB4011iGS+RM myself, it's only got one 10G but you can just tag at and it works fine with an external and internal vlan.

@noroad the ONT itself is the router with these services but you can put them into passthrough IIRC.

That checker doesn't really give a timeline on hyperfibre. Most of the products say gigabit, but BFAS says 10G and CRT says 100G. So am guessing the areas capable of 2G/4G when hyperfibre launches?

You just asked if it was going to be available.
DFAS and CRT are not consumer products and are very different from GPON in terms of technology and delivery so this is not something to compare to or guess availability

Yeah no I figured that, but there's no mention of hyper fibre in the list. Should there be?

Yes, I understand you can use ONT/RGW for Hyperfibre, it is pretty basic but works. Wifi of course will need external help.

Only when it is available, some addresses have the approximate availability date - some don’t.
