amped for inside install this wed afternoon. Fibre install at home looks pretty good.

they even replaced the hose to the tape mounted next to it with metal pipe (so they may have damaged the hose).

Overall pretty happy.

I've just taken a look at my photos from when they installed the fibre in the first place (which I'd forgotten about until now). The only cables under there are the copper and the fibre, so the blue therefore must be marking them :)

I popped home at lunchtime today and found a thrusting company installing big (10-15 cm diameter) orange tubing into the street. It doesn't look like UFB after all :(

Are you in a Chorus LFC area ?

Sounds like it might be 110mm power ducting - Bugger

Yeah, it's power; there were Horizon (local power company) trucks out here when I got home and, if I needed even more convincing, the power was off. It looks like they're finally moving the power underground.

So I am live on Fibre now - all I can say is it is utterly amazing.

Netflix - videos load almost instantly and are running at full bitrate after 1 minute.
Youtube - videos load and start instantly - even on 1080p
Torrents - between 3-5MBps - even with PirateBay offline
Speedtests - 89/48 on wifi - haven't tested cabled yet - latency 3ms to Spark
Web Browsing - just better, quicker.

That's using a Cisco 887 and Unifi APs - might be worth replacing the router soon.

Well my part of the street is done as far as installation of fibre goes. Work started on the 18th(was meant to be the 8th) and finished just after lunchtime today. All fibre went underground, though about 600m around the road, it went on power poles. I'm guessing they will be back to do the rest of the street after Xmas.
