Apparently I never posted that today's my install date. So here I am, impatiently waiting for them to turn up :P

Good Luck - if they are an hour late ring up the installer - my guy ended up having van trouble and having to reschedule the first time. Which I found out after I called.

I haven't been given a time (just "PM") so I don't know when an hour late is :)

Further complicating things, my voicemail "skipped" during recording so the number I have is something like "0800 7[skip]16". Fortunately I do have a service order number so I could probably track someone down if I had to, but at the moment I'll just wait until "PM" :)

Was going to give you the number for Chorus (?) but you aren't Auckland!

They were good - specific times - text confirmation etc.

The voicemail came from Transfield and was from a blocked number. But I'm not worrying at this stage; it's still a couple of hours until "PM".

I'm confused. The fibre is buried next to the road, on the council reserve. Apparently they can't dig the trench today because they need council permission to dig up the reserve... yet surely every install would require some digging to get down to the fibre in the first place. Indeed they already dug as far as the "drop" before the topic of permission even came up. Does anyone know what the rules are around this?

Services normally terminate on your property - so your consent is needed.

Your services terminate on a reserve?

There are four "drops" out by the road, next to a power pole. One of those is intended for my house, but it's not on my property.

A bit quick and dirty, but here you go... (click to enlarge)

Basically they need to dig under the neighbour's driveway, then my own, and come up through my garden.

- Install ETP? Check!
- Hit the water pipe? Check!

Thunderbirds are go! Top speed seen so far is 93 Mb/s :)

Edit: The Chorus guy said that it could take 24 hours for everything to "update". I retested this morning (11th) and it's getting the full 100 Mb/s now laughing
