Recently as in when? As I mentioned I found performance had really tanked which is why I moved away from BP. Truenet graphs at the time were showing big dives during peak evening periods and unless whatever I was looking at was coming from a CDN is was reaaaallly slow (some YT videos, probably ones not on an NZ CDN, wouldn't even stream). Friends on BP seeing the same thing.

Truenet showed Spark performance was still fine during all of this. Would consider going back to BP if performance was better (and in line with what Spark is typically like).

As below, mayish.

you would need to be using BP (and well now our) DNS to hit correct CDNs.

In testing that @talkiet ran through, the network is near identical.

Just to throw some conventional thinking under the bus, DNS use has limited effect on the selection of appropriate CDNs. There is some, for one platform in particular, but they are mostly cleverer than to just rely on DNS referrer now.

Of course, there are other good reasons to use the ISP DNS...

How much data is captured from/stored on Spark's DNS servers (and other ISPs if anybody knows)? I prefer 1.1.1.1 or 9.9.9.9 for this reason amongst others.

Orcon closed my fault for not getting 200mbps after being upgraded. Is everyone on Orcon in the same boat?

From what I've heard from Orcon they're still trying to figure out what the issue is. Whatever they changed is a temporary fix until they get a proper solution. For now I'm convinced that they are working on it, maybe in a month I might try giving them another call.

At the moment I'm getting 185/22 which is fast enough that I'm willing to wait for now.

Chorus is carrying out consultation on whether to change pricing on their 200M and gigabit plans. Hopefully this means the rest of us on Chorus gets a price drop soon!
