My connection also changed last night. Unfortunately I seem to have gone from 43/9 to 35/10. Losing 20% download is a disappointment. Although my biggest disappointment is I'm still over 2yrs away from getting fibre!
And it changed again this morning. Back on 8b and now at 40/8.
Hmmm, I got changed over yesterday, got higher Download and upload connection speeds
But in reality downloads are slower and more erratic, uploads have sped up by 1Mbps
Being on 17a was very short lived as power company replacing power poles for last few weeks and power going off/on twice a day
So I was on 17a for an hour, before power cut and then straight back to 8b again
But no difference in connection speeds as per attached.
I do now how ever have large Interleave depth, pretty sure this was zero before switch, which I take it is increasing my ping from 27ms to now high 30's
Not too worried about download speed drop as its only slight not too sure about the speed wobbles as before it would be rock steady, upload speed boost is welcome
Realistically both those lines are ones i would personally kept to 8b.
To me, DLM seems to be doing as it intends, trialing 17a because it feels it may be beneficial, realizing NOPE and dropping back.

ddDLM will be relevant to everyone eventually.
It is however a question of, Does it honestly matter to you? for 99% of people it won't mean a thing!

Okay so given the questions about ddDLM and now that things are alot more clear, i may be looking to do a proper writeup.
for the time being though, here are some headline figures for maximum line speeds
These are as they stand currently, and could change at any point.
As i understand it, the Ikanos lines are limited down slower due to capability.
ADSL is ofcourse simply at it's limit of realistic capability.

I'd hope the next steps were vectoring and G.INP rather than 30a.
Crap, my power went up and down yesterday and now I seem to have dropped back to 8b. Will this correct itself and take me back to 17a if I just leave it alone?
Oh man, I keep seeing those posts, and am checking our VDSL connection every day. No change yet.

But just my rotten luck that Power company replacing power poles and I'm stuck with power cuts during the DLM
17a and 8b not really any difference for me, 800m from cabinet (400m along driveway) might be the limiting factor

Put modem at roadside fed from solar, run ubnt wireless to your house ,
I am pumping vdsl 3kms via a repeater on a hill using ubiquiti gear,
getting 5 x what I can get from copper at the destination

Unlikely - Maximum is usually only attainable within about 100m or so of the termination, and only with really good gear. My TP-Link modem I used for testing as a field tech couldn't hit higher than 27000 odd, terminated directly on the port. You're probably in that new weird zone that came about with the changes to VDSL a while back, where you're over about 700-800m away at least, a little bit slower than a perfect ADSL2 line, but a helluvalot better than what ADSL2 would ACTUALLY give you. But that's just a guess - if you could post your line stats, we can do better than guess.
