timmmay:

2degrees Wellington, my upload has increased to about 100Mbps :) Nice free upgrade. If the download jumps a bit at some point, great, but the upload is the main thing for backups.

No change in Auckland.  Is\will this change be automatically passed on to chorus customers or is it something ISPs have to "opt into" ?

It's been talked about further up in the thread.

Basically some ISPs it's automatic, others will need to make changes (some may also make it a paid upgrade).

Depends how the ISP runs things. (from my understanding.)

Sorry, I haven't followed the whole thread. I'm with 2 degrees like Timmmay, but I'm still not clear on whether they in particular will be passing this on automatically or not - maybe a question for @SarahRykers I guess? :)

I didn't mean it as anything negative, there are 9 pages now, can't expect people to read them all, I just mentioned it incase you wanted more details.

Has this gone live? I'm getting 300 down and 100 up on Bigpipe this morning. Kind of moot because I'm moving over to gigabit with Skinny later this week.

You must have been a luckily test on their system, I spoke to one of the BigPipe support staff over chat about this to see if there was an ETA but they said they hadn't been given any information about this upgrade yet and that emails would probably be sent out when more information was available.

Hey GZ,

Can confirm the 300/100 boost will be automatically passed on to the end user. We'll have an update go out to our customer base with more details soon.

Is it too early to say Merry Christmas? ;)

Cheers,

Spark have updated their fibre product page to say 102Mbps or 300Mbps Download 22Mbps or 100Mbps Upload. How do you know which one you are gonna get before committing?

Don't really want to go from 900/500 to 100/20 by accident.

Suggest you wait a couple of months until the upgrades are all sorted out, then you call them to check your address.

The reason the Spark website is a little ambiguous about this is because it is LFC dependent as to what set of speeds you'll get (100/20 vs 300/100).  Not all of the LFCs are making changes at precisely the same time or in the same manner.  PM me your address and I can let you know which set of speeds you'll get.
