I have installed two master filter in the last week.
First one at my house as i am in the process of getting new cabinet at the end of my street.
Thought i would be ahead of the 8 ball.
stats before and after on adsl.



Please note that my upload has nearly doubled, but download has not changed. Hope this will all change when new cabinet is live this month ROL/AV(new cabinet) ROl/Z

The second one i installed was at my mothers house with adsl 2 last week.
Lines stats were good, but today i checked the connection and the modem has been resetting itself
to 3000Kbps, where before it was 14420Kbps download. Upload has not changed.

Can anyone please explain why it has dropped since last week.

- Your modem DSL stats (do not worry about posting Speedtest, we need sync rate, attenuation and noise margin)



- Your general location (or street)



- If you are rural or urban



- If you know your connection is to an exchange, cabinet or conklin



- If your connection is to a ULL or wholesale service



- If you have done an isolation test as per the link above



Most of the problems with speed are likely to be related to internal wiring issues. Read this discussion to find out more about this. Your ISP is not intentionally slowing you down today (unless you are on a managed plan). Also if this is the school holidays it's likely you will notice slower than usual speed due to more users online.



A master splitter is required for VDSL2 and in most cases will improve speeds on DSL connections. Regular disconnections can be a monitored alarm or a set top box trying to connect. If there's an alarm connected to your line even if you don't have an alarm contract it may still try to connect so it's worth checking.

The first one is an ADSL1 (g.dmt) connection, you're basically getting the max line rates possible on ADSL1. Your attenuation of 6dB is nice an low so when the new cabinet goes live you should get much higher line rates.

You may need to call your ISP to get them to action a profile change if it doesn't happen automatically after the cabinet is completed, also bear in mind the go live for the cabinet may be sometime later than the physical work on it.

For the second one there could be a number of reasons why the line rate is dropping. If you are 100% sure there is a just the single cable from the modem to the the splitter/filter and your new connections are good (gel caps etc) connecting cable to filter and filter to line then it's probably an external line issue which you would log as a fault with your ISP for investigation.

The second one i installed, is an old house. The people before tried to put in extra jackpoints, but not a good job.
I started at the etp, where the yellow/black wire came in to the house (39 volts). Installed the filter here(black to white & yellow to colour wire). Then ran cat5 to first jack, green /white to dsl jack, blue/ white to phone jack. ran extra 2 phone jacks from here.
Checked voltage at all jacks at 39 volts.

I will keep eye on it and if now improve then will contact telecom.
