Looks like FancyZones has opened the flood gates and allows you to add about 3x the zones as it did before (without some tinkering anyway).  I have 100 zones on my super ultrawide now, with about 20 more that I could add it seems.  Not sure if it will show up well on screenshot but anyway...

If you haven't used it before you can basically just grab a window, press the hotkey to bring up the grid, then drag the window over the grid where you want it to snap.  Just drag over as many of the zones in the grid as you want your window to look like, then let go.  It's brilliant!  I use it combined with the Snap Layouts inherent in Windows 11, that were mentioned earlier.  e.g. I use Snap Zones when I am not needing to get too granular, and Fancy Zones when I want to fit a bunch of random stuff on the display.

Has anybody ever used 3 external displays with a Macbook? (Laptop Display + 3 external)

If so, how did you manage to get it working? I have a dock station but it only has 2 HDMI ports.

Cheers!

Usually difficult to get past 2 screens on a mobile GPU.  You'd want to try with USB-C to the display on each of the three displays first to at least find out of the device is able to drive them all concurrently, then you can solve the dock issue.

Also FYI, not all macbooks support the same number of external displays, some officially support 1 external display, some 2, some 4.

Hi I am thinking of getting a 27”-34” ultra widescreen monitor to connect my work HP elitebook laptop. Looking for something that is slim and has inbuilt USB hub. Any recomendations?

I have an HP Probook 450 G8 for work and just brought home a 34" monitor tonight with USB-C hub. Love it. I'm not gaming so refresh rates count for squat with me, but I got the Samsung LC34H892 as a budget option. I was recommended a Dell 34" for slightly more then $1k but my budget didn't go that far, and I wanted something sub $1k to write off immediately for tax purposes.

You didn't say what your budget was. My wife uses a 34" Dell Ultrasharp ultrawide in her WFH setup which supports both USB-C and normal USB upstream with 4 port USB hub downstream, but it costs $1700 so not sure I would recommend it. You can get $800 34" ultrawides but they usually have VA panels while the more expensive ones have IPS panels. Personally I would not buy a VA panel for WFH use.

What's your budget, how many ports do you need on the inbuilt USB hub, and will you connect over USB-C?

Re WFH monitor.  Mine is a 32in 4k monitor which is great for side-by-side documents, etc.

But one problem I have encountered is that the large overseas corporate I contract to does not provide the staff I work with with 4k monitors.  That becomes a pain in the butt during Webex working sessions as they cannot clearly see my documents unless I full-screen the active document and enlarge to maybe 180% plus in say Excel (or often my content not readable at all).  Each sheet I open, I have to enlarge, which then (a) makes navigation at my end awkward at times (as my spreadsheets etc are set up for working on my 4k monitor), and (b) after the Webex session, I have to go through and wind back the scaling on each sheet/document as I encounter it.  Not a major, just a bit of annoyance when encounter a sheet several days later with the content oversize and only partly visible.

Anyone else encountered this problem?   Any simple work-arounds/solutions (leaving the content oversize not being an acceptable solution from my pov!)?

No problems the other way around.  Their fullscreen docs appear as a part-screen window on my monitor, and I have no problem reading the content as is.

Does webex even support sharing above 1080p? I thought not, so anyone viewing your share will have it scaled right down on their side.

Yes laptop + 2x 32" 4k user - I just share my laptop screen (1) and place the video on screen two so I can still see the audience. Havn't had any complaints, but perhaps others are just polite or asleep.

I'm after some advice.
I currently have three monitors: an old 22" 1680x1050 monitor as my main one and two 19" 1280×1024 monitors on each side. (These were given away by a previous employer).

When working from home I have my work laptop (1920x1080) connected to the 22" and 1 of the 19" monitors.
I also have a Mac mini (2018) which is always connected to the other 19" monitor and I sometimes plug the USB-C cable of the 22" monitor to have 2 screens. (This is usually only weekends.)

I am looking at replacing the 3 monitors with one that's about 32", and be able to flip between inputs easily to switch it from work to home and vice versa, without switching the cable. I have USB-C and HDMI ports available on both the laptop and the Mac mini. I don't often game or play movies in this setup, so features geared toward those are not a consideration.

Would AOC CQ32G3SE 31.5" from PB Tech ($649) be a good option, or is there something better for a similar (or cheaper) price?

If it's for WFH I'd recommend considering an ultrawide, can probably get something decent for a similar price.

Yeah, I’m a convert to the 34” ultrawide monitor for WFH, thanks to advice from others on GZ. A few weeks back I swapped out my two 27” work screens I’d brought home and have never looked back.

PB Tech/Mi Store have the Xiaomi 34” down to $599 at the moment, which is the screen I bought based on recommendations here. Not big on features if that matters (eg no USB), but probably can’t beat it for value.
