I posted it there because I think its important for people to know that only they themselves can protect themselves from crime.

The government isn't going to do it.

We are more vulnerable than before.

I received a reply back from the Privacy Commissioner about the public listing against me, but because I am bankrupted I've lost a lot of my privacy rights and legal rights.

I do hope this is an important issue for people, then I know that people care about our country and our right to freedom.

As long as it is here I will reply here. It is an important issue for me. I think officialdom in this country (not limited to any specific government) has a very cavalier attitude towards personal privacy and I am very much opposed to that. More and more information gets collected, often for no other reason than its own sake, and more and more gets exposed through sloppiness and crappy software, though somehow it is never anyone's fault. I don't see why being bankrupt should be a license to throw you to the hacker lions of the world. It smacks of the poorhouse or being tied to a rock for the vultures or being placed in stocks so people can throw tomatoes at you. Going broke is bad enough, though it can be the mark of a very capable entrepreneur simply going through a bad patch. In any case, I don't see the justification for the added humiliation. This is not how civilised societies treat people.

To me a backup is only a backup if it's offsite, offline, and incremental. Anything else is a copy. Most cloud backup tools are online, so I class them as a copy, though the ones that have incremental / versioning are pretty good.

And if you want to go back 1 version, then you need to have accessible your full and all incrementals since.

Reverse Incrementals is where it's at.

No, I'm serious. Owing to having children I can't afford to upgrade the OS, and it will be staying like that for a while, unfortunately. And it's my main desktop machine so it won't be going anywhere for some time.

right so enough of the off topic chat...how do i check that i have the patch or not?

does the normal malware/virus protection stop this or is it an inherit windows exploit? how do you actually get infected with this virus?

if files are placed in a google drive folder on a PC will the google drive get infected too or can i just reinstall and get the files back from google drive that way?
