My WIn 7 machine seems to have inherited something that keeps throwing up an invitation to download this and install it as a Chrome extension.  When I google it I get sent to various anti-malware sites that look somewhat dodgy.  I just close the tab when it opens, but it comes back again a few times a day.  Am I being paranoid?  Can I kill it?

Download and install Malwarebytes, run a scan and see what it fines

If your DNS/or something else has been hijacked it might redirect you somewhere else so I would be more inclined to download Malwarebytes from a PC that hasn't been infected
