Hello folks... Received an email last week from ioSafe, a company that makes rugged external drives (HDD and SSD). They offered to send me an external drive to test - and they even have an IoSafe distributor in New Zealand.

The IoSafe Rugged 500GB drive arrived here today and I couldn't wait to test it - they said I could do anything... So here's the first video:

I will post a full review later with other tests (set on fire perhaps?)...

nice, might have to look at getting one of these myself for onsite backup.

Would be funny if it broke though!

I vote for fire!
Also some drop tests too!

What else would it go through if it were in christchurch, say? :P
(Find some liquifaction to dunk it in)

I dropped it a couple of times before, from about 90cm high, inside the house. I do want to leave it in the bathtub for 24 hours and seriously thinking about setting it on fire.

Suggestions welcome.

stuzz: +1 for fire!

This ^^. I wonder what it would do to the disks on the inside. Could they handle the heat?

I've seen the fullsize model take on fire and win, but not the little portable guy. Would be curious to see this too.

Obviously the USB connector will be melted and it'll have to go to ioSafe for their included data recovery, so make sure you do this test last Tongue Out

This model is not fireproof, so won't do it...

It was really a tongue in cheek +1 lol.

It looks a great enclosure though.
