I don't know what price you're looking at but with vat taken off the cost is 40 Euros which works out to be NZ$63.

PhantomNZ: Has anyone here flashed their 920 to the unbranded country variant at all?

I admit I'm a bit of a coward - what does the unbranded version do over the one that comes from Telecom?

Probably nothing, but I was just wondering. I got mine from Dubai and it has middle east firmware on it so I have more reason to do it than most here.

kawaii: Just bought one 2 hours ago from Harvey Norman in Lower Hutt - last one on the shelf and I threw it on the 15 months interest free. Beautiful phone, great experience - a little hick up during the setup/configuration process but great none the less. It appears that Microsoft has finally 'gotten it' with their partnering up with Nokia.

Please don't tempt me. I can't afford to move away from Andriod lol

It definitely worth it. If you want a phone with all the drama of updates and broken applications due to version fragmentation then Windows Phone 8 a definite improvement over Windows Phone 7. I've upgraded from a Lumia 900 to Lumia 920 - it is definitely worth it.

Um, with, or without?

It should probably be "without" in that sentence.

OK, here's one...

If you go into a contact (People hub), and that contact has an address, and you click it to "map" it - on my phone, Nokia Maps does NOT open up, the old Map (per WP7/7.5) opens up.

Which is good! - because the data is way more up-to-date. Possibly better resolution too?

So the old Maps is on your phone - but they've obviously hidden the app (or somethin' like that).

Cheers, Duncan.

Hmmm. Not for me. The maps are certainly Nokia Maps.

I set the new phone up, charged it up, then left it sitting on my desk overnight. This morning it required a soft reset to bring it back... yikes! It hasn't happened again since, but I'll see what happens tonight and decide what to do tomorrow.

Had it occur once during the setup process but hasn't occurred since so fingers crossed that everything is ok.

It seems to have survived the night, so yeah, hopefully it's not a bung one again. I'm counting on the announced early December patch to deal with minor reset issues, but the previous phone was just so bad it was unusable.

Badboy2303: As per Bring back native Maps on Nokia Windows Phones

Thanks... Interesting that someone would prefer Bing Maps when Nokia/NAVTEQ is the push now. The Nokia HERE framework has everything needed to be adopted by other manufacturers and platform/application developers.

slade50000: Would be great to hear what apps people are finding the most useful/fun.

Would anyone care to share their list?

Baconit - Reddit reader
Zite - News reader that learns what you like - saves adding new feeds
Weave - Also a nice news reader
Accuweather - Preinstalled on the Telecom 920
Markets and Me+ - Syncs with your Google finance portfolio
Bloomberg - Also good for stocks
BBC News Mobile - Unofficial but nice
DW - Deutsche Welle news
AAWP - App for one of the best Windows phone sites, good podcast
XE - Currency
das Image - Nice web image browser
Plants vs Zombies - Well made tower defense style game
Wordament - great time killer
In the Know - Google Analytics
Soundhound - Recognises music, finds and downloads via Xbox music pass
Metrotube - Youtube
IMDb - Internet movie database
All the Nokia apps
NZ Herald
NZ TV Schedule - Simple but works
Photosynth - Microsoft's fancy 360 degree imaging app + service - Not yet ready for WP8
Tune in - Radio/Podcasts - not yet ready for WP8
Podcasts! - Similar to Tune-in for podcasts
Pingdom Pulse - If you use the Pingdom server monitor service
Photobeamer - Show your photos on any screen with a browser
Rowi - Twitter
Remote Desktop - The one by Topperware as it properly supports non-SSL NLA (the dev of the other RDP app argued with me that it wasn't possible... he's wrong)
TripAdvisor - travel info
TopGear News - what it is
Thumba photo editor
Translator - Point camera and translate
Flicks - local movies
All the big names apps: Facebook, Sydrive, Skype, PayPal, eBay, Amazon, Linked-in

There are heaps of good apps. What's missing for me are things that are more obscure such as decent music/sequencer/synth apps and also all the cool 3D games we see on IOS/Android. We have Armed and Harvest, but we've had them for nearly 2 years.
Rob

Excellent post, thanks for the effort!
