I am not experiencing any reboots - have it on all the time and haven't noticed anything like that.

No, mine still reboots randomly. I'll take it out of my pocket, or just look away from it to sip my coffee, as happened this afternoon, and it'll be on the Nokia boot logo starting up again all by itself.

I have the exact same apps on it that I have on my 920 and that has been very reliable ever since the Portico update.

I guess I'm used to Lumias starting off flaky and then settling down with some updates, but the 1020 is effectively a 920 already and should be stable. I'll see how it goes whilst I'm still checking the camera.

I went into the local Telecom store this afternoon and discussed the optical issue. They have given me the option for a replacement, but I won't take that option until I've done some more tests over the weekend. I went in because I thought I only had 7 days but they said I have 14 days, so that's plenty of time.

Some further quick tests I did this afternoon suggest that it is in fact off-centre spherical aberration, which is more of a flaw than a fault. If it is then I'd just deal with that rather than risk a replacement phone being worse.

I've had an app I use frequently crash often that was stable on WP7.8, but apart from that no issues.

A couple of photos.... these are not the full res. First one is reframed from an original wider shot (the 2nd one)

The digital zoom makes this camera bloody amazing:  I took a random photo of our entire tea room, and you can zoom into it and read A4 paper on the wall.. at both ends of the room.   Ultimate spy camera :)

Are there different modes as say in macros etc.
Ill continue to learn

In Pro Camera there is a focal length slider, just tap the icon on the top bar then slide it up and down off auto.

Zune doesn't work with WP8.

You have to install Windows Phone Windows 8 app or Windows Phone for Desktop.

Both are awful.

I have to keep Zune to manually sync my podcasts, then get the WP8 app to sync my podcasts folder to phone.

Because we can't have access to podcasts in the store outside of the US

From memory minimum focal length is about 15cm, so be aware of that when shooting macro.

Focus in macro shots was a real issue in the original Pureview 808 - I usually shoot from a bit further back and zoom a little. Small amounts of zoom won't adversely affect image quality and make macro focusing a cinch.
