Hello,

I have just got a OKTA TOuch back from Telegistics today and they have upgraded it to WM6.1, now the following is displayed in the device info screen;

ROM Version - 3.00.781.4
ROM Date - 02/04/09
Radio Version - 3.41.00

Havent had a chance to test it but I imagine it now has EVDO REv A. & GPS as per overseas carrier releases.

A quick call to Telegistics confirmed that they got it last week and are performing upgrades as required, they cannot provide the upgrade to end users for them to update themselves :-(

About to send my one in today, so will let you know if there are any problems.

Tristan

Hi All, I'm a long time lurker but no comments yet ....
I have a dillema in that I have upgraded the touch to radio V3.42.30 and OMJ's Custom2 ROM 3.03.651.4

The phone starts up OK, all looks good however when I try and ring a number I get the annoying telecom message say if you have just purchased this phone you need to wait for 4 hours before it will be connected.  Knowing I did this last night ... yes was getting late ... is there something obvious I have missed to make the phone or internet work?

Also, I cant seem to be able to ##778 any more, as it keeps trying to dial that number rather than enter the edit screens.

Any info would be appreciated.

How much does the upgrade by Telegistics cost and how long does it take? I have a touch I am wanting to see and I am considering getting the upgrade first.  Do we expect to see this as a do it yourself install from Telecom??

This one was covered under warranty and was away for 5 working days, I have asked about another one that is wayyy out of warranty (18+ months) and they have advised it will be the minimum service fee of $85.00. I will save my $85 & wait to see if it is made available to end users!

Not sure about the other reply you.  After I upgraded to the 'almost spint' rom I also lost the ##778.  The codes weere in a folder called  "phone codes" in the programmes folder.

Hope that helps.

Personally, I would still use the american based custom roms, over the telecom one.
Compared to the current rom I use, WDM 1.6 Diamond, the standard WM6 look is just plain ugly.
Plus you get all the additional programs stored in the rom to play with.

The only issue I have found is that AGPS does not work here via the US roms. If the telecom
rom supported that fully, then it would be an improvement.
In saying that, my touch picks up the gps signal within 30 sec anyway via the plain old satellite
triangulation.

Thats a good point.  Anyone know if teleco does support AGPS.  My ROM is lucky to get the satellites in 30 seconds. (Almost Sprint)

My understanding is that telecom does support agps from the towers, but it is in a different format or userid from the us carriers. so, it wont work basically.

When you say your phone is almost sprint, does it say sprint on the right hand side instead of telecom?
Mine does.. I ran the sprint PPST file, which was probably one step too far, but the phone still goes, except it always presumes that the area code is three digits instead of two... i.e, (041) 111 111 for a wellington number instead of (04) 111 1111.
If anyone knows how to fix this, that would be great.

btw, I also managed to cram the full garmin XT into the phone itself, instead of needing to be on a card, if anyone needs to know how to do it.

think it is in the regional settings? definitely in one of those settings on the phone without a winmo i can't really visualise.

Hi,
unfortunately those settings are only for number (as in number format for excel etc), date, time and currency.

The STD prefix is buried deep in the phone somewhere, and is altered by the carrier specific PPST file. Changing it back to Telecom is the hard part.

Nope, it still says Telecom in the upper right.  The ROM was called, (from memory) "Almost Sprint OEM", but the link to it on PPCgeeks.com doesn't let me in anymore, so noit sure what the deal is there.  Anyway, been a stable ROM with no probs + GPS.

As far as the phone dialling 3 digits try:
Settings>personal>>phone>Plus Code Dialling, then hit "get settings'  and disable.  That should get rid of it.

Good luck
