joker97: what is the best windows phone around the size of the outgoing iphone (but as big a screen as possible)? tempted to have a play but don't want to pay more than $100-$200

If you want a Nokia, go for a Lumia 635

You'll have to parallel import if you want to pay that sort of price as it retails for 299 here

or go outside of Nokia and parallel import one of the cheaper WP8.1 devices like BLU

1. Apps are still lacking
2. I have an android phone and dont want to spend more money to buy a windows phone
3. If I did get another phone, Don't really want to take the risk switching away from android, Mostly for apps,
But also not as customizable

It would be good to know what apps you care about that are missing, so we can pass this on to get ported over.

Ok, the blog post will be a long one (not in words but screenshots) so won't post tonight but I will post soon. The gist of it is that when you have apps in both Android and Windows Phone they are comparable in features - and I've screenshots for PayPal, Facebook, Twitter, OneDrive, OneNote, Amazon, Fitbit, LinkedIn, Instagram, Swarm, Skype, LastPass to show it

The problem is that sometimes the app you want is not there. I'd say 20% of the apps used by 80% of people are the ones that aren't there (the good old Pareto Principle). This means the vast majority of apps have equivalents (including some third party ones if an official app is not available) but there are still some that don't exist on Windows Phone.

Definitely BNZ. Swarm is nice but the search results list is ugly as. You will see in the comparison. Eye candy helps too...

Im loving my 520 but as mentioned, lack of apps is the primary downside. Theres usually a 3rd party clone of what you want, but generally pretty crap and just put together to cash in on the name.

ANZ said theyre looking into developing an app for Windows Phone but nothing confirmed yet.

I want to try Windows Phone, been told I am getting one for Xmas too.  The model I want isn't available here at present though.
As for apps, all the ones I need are in the WP store

old3eyes: About Phone says "Software Windows Phone 8.1

Check for updates. Windows Phone has a swift keyboard that is better than others - and even without that I found the Windows Phone keyboard to be heaps better than Android in terms of key spacing, responsiveness and accuracy on predicting words.

Checked for up dates and none.  The wife acceptance factor was OK with the exception of the key board.  It's not too bad in landscape mode but not as good as say Androids swiftkey or AI key boards.  I like the interface though of windows phone generally..
