^ That is a legitimate concern. So far, I have not come across in xda or wpcentral customers with this issue. The software being used for manual update is the same as the one uses by Nokia Customer Care.

freitasm: Posted this yesterday to my Twitter:

It happens almost every time I try to use voice commands and need the network access for speech to text.

Interesting.. I never had this issue at all.

Have you installed the speech?

Sure did. It works when it wants to.

Yeah I've been watching both of those for any signs as well. I've got a huge pile of ROMs sitting on my lappy at home from Navifirm since they're closing off the service very soon.
Once I'm happy that I have no warranty type issues with my device, I'd probably be happy using this method.
I did purchase a yellow 920 from Telecom to use while I wait for my red one to be fixed. I'm quite keen to replace the ROM with the unbranded country variant one.

Ah that is a different beast.

Replacing it with a completely different ROM 'may' cause some issue. That is something I won't do. Any difference between the yellow and red version?

The difference between the ROM colour variants is simply the default phone colour scheme...

My original rom was a german vodafone version, bought from mobicity.

I replaced it with a HK no brand one, being careful to stay within the same numbering as the original

You have just as much chance of bricking the phone from an update compared to a full install, just be careful and follow the guidelines.

Does anyone know what ROMs are not branded / carrier free?

Yes, I realise a different ROM is a different beast. However, it is the same hardware. RM-821.

Other than colour, no difference.

Anything that says CV on Navifirm. E.g. for a Black Telecom purchased device, our country variant is 1232.2109.1242.1001\RM-821 CV AU VAR244486 12421 002 Black V1 Black (059Q9P4)
Or the same with Portico: 1232.5951.1249.1002\RM-821 VAR APAC AU CV BLACK (059Q9P4)

Great, thanks. Just got 1232.5951.1249.1002 [RM-821 VAR AU CV RED (059Q9P1)], should the need ever arise to go unbranded, or maybe I just get sick of the telecom splash screen ;-)
The FFU flash file states that it is for AU and NZ.

Does everyone in New Zealand have the same issue with the gyroscope? Just downloaded the latest Nokia City Lens and the AR view is out by 180 degrees. I guess this is a southern hemisphere thing. The compass seems correct though.

Mine seems to be fine before and after update, is there some repro steps?

Mine was fine before the update, haven't tried it again since this morning.

I have to say Portico has greatly improved the phone overall performance... No need to restart or has any issue since update. Very very very happy!
