tr3v: I have not been able to get the GPS to work with Google Mobile Maps. I have tried setting the GPS manually, as well as letting Windows manage the settings but the best I get is a message "Seeking GPS Satellites (0)..." for about 5 minutes when GMM gives up. I left the phone outside in a place that usually gets fixes.
I will look for a free viewer, to see if I can see what communication there is with the GPS, if any.

Same - no joy getting the GPS to work. Timed out.

Mine is working now - I found out that you have to go to :Start / Settings / Phone / Services and enable "Location Setting".

Ok. Didn't work from either Windows 7 or Windows Vista (SP2).

Installer detected the old ROM (1.12.781.3) and started the upgrade process, however, when it switched to the actually installation phase (phone turned rainbow coloured), the system started installing new device drivers, and it failed at that point.

Softboot of the phone has it back to normal.

Now I need to find an XP machine...

Woot! Vanilla ROM (1.12.781.3) updated to 3.00.781.3 with no problems, once I found an XP box to perform the upgrade with.

Seems to be fine although only showing 1 bar of signal in my office when I normally see 2.

Haven't put anything back on it yet. That's tomorrows job.

I flashed to the new telecom rom and all went well except that I'm now unable to make calls or send texts. Data works fine. I'm sure I've read a fix for this before but haven't been able to find it tonight. Anyone know what's going on? I flashed from the original telecom rom.
Also the gps is working but i've been unable to get a lock yet.

Bugger, mine failed halfway through the CE-Mobile loading, in saying that though the PC i'm loading it from is very funky (has a microcore 80MB version of WindowsNT 5 which has pretty well everything removed.

Does anyone know where to find the "almost sprint" rom? I would prefer to update the radio to the later stack as this version is not as recent. then Then remove the TouchFLO interface and keypads.

Has someone actually got the internal GPS to work from the new TNZ Internal ROM? I'm lost about which builds people have now!

GPS definitely working after updating the original Telecom ROM with this update.

It took a long time (~5 mins). I only tried once just to prove that it worked. Maybe subsequent connections will be quicker, now that it knows where my approximate position is. I won't have a chance to test this again until tonight.

Same - around 4 minutes. Very long time...original Telecom build, no other issues, as previous poster said make sure Settings/Phone/Services/Location Setting is set as "On".

same thing happened on mine.
i tried a couple of softresets and a hard reset and re-ran the upgrade. still no joy. couldnt make calls.

then did a esn change to another 6.1 touch and i could make calls.
so another esn change back to the orginal 6.1 touch and now it works.

No GPS lock, tried google maps, tried most combinations incl location setup but it would appear that the GPS module is still not enabled. Pity to release new ROM and not activate GPS

My settings (all are defaults except for the phone Location Setting):

1. Start / Settings / Personal / Phone / Services / "Location Setting" = ON
2. Start / Settings / System / External GPS / Programs / GPS Program Port = COM4
3. Start / Settings / System / External GPS / Hardware / GPS Hardware Port = (None)
4. Start / Settings / System / External GPS / Hardware / Baud Rate = 4800
5. Start / Settings / System / External GPS / Access / Manage GPS Automatically = ON

I downloaded the latest version of GMM (3.0.0.12) and it managed to get its first position fix in approximately 5 minutes, with the phone sitting outside with a clear view of the sky.

PS. In GMM, the GPS Settings should be set to "Managed by Windows".

Trying to get TomTom navigator working, but it still says no GPS device. I tried setting it to internal, as well as "Other bluetooth GPS on COM4" but no luck.
Would use google but its not actually connected to telecom at the moment, since they don't allow it on prepaid. However i locked 5 satellites after 10mins.

EDIT: Hooray, i followed these instructions to the letter, and now it works. Yet to test it out going somewhere though.

I tried to update Rom with new one and it messed up. I did everything that the read me file told me to do but.....I got and error message 266. This is not covered in the error list. Now Active sync won't recognize my device. Have tried on another PC that it was previously able to be synced with and same thing. Now Touch is stuck on the rainbow screen with "IPL 2.20.0002 RUU SPL 2.20.000 USB on screen. Tried soft reset, hard reset and reboot of both pc's, no joy. Have I bricked the device? I'm on Vodafone by the way. Is this only for the Telecom version ie the OKTA and not the HTC. Help please. 8-(
