How did you get this app? I can't find it on the phone and the website says I can't download it... Or is it only for US accounts?

I wasn't able to find it using the Store either. Had to click on the link via google. I don't have a US account so it's not locked via region

So I installed the ROM which was previously mentioned "059Q9P1-1232.5951.1249.1002 (CV-AUNZ)"

Colour of the variant is Red, my phone is Black. Who knows what's the difference but it's all gone ok. My phone now gives me the option to set the highest connection speed as 4G (yay!). I have had to change my region (defaults to australia), and only then my apps become available to download (before they wouldn't, the numerous 'download application .. attention required tap here' wouldn't go away without changing region.)

Happy camper here... hopefully no issues on the horizon

the ROM variant colour just changes the default Windows Phone theme colour default when you turn it on

I thought all lumias were Red

- sorry forgot to mention it was the red variety.

Under NaviFirm+ "Nokia Lumia 920 (RM-821)", Release "1232.5951.1249.1002"

RM-821 VAR APAC AU CV BLACK (059Q9P4)
RM-821 VAR AU CV RED (059Q9P1)
RM-821 VAR AU CV WHITE (059Q9P3)
RM-821 VAR AU CV YELLOW (059Q9N8)
RM-821 VAR AUSTRALIA AU CV CYAN (059R8K0)

But the "Colour" variant only changed the default colour scheme on the phone, so you will be just fine. Get a red nokia case [nokia sell them now] and your phone will be perfect (minus the free wireless charger that you don't get with the black variety...)

Thanks for the feedback and update. Now I have a reason to change my phone to 'unbranded...' [Well not really as I am on 2Degrees....]

I've noticed this for all the Nokia settings addons, they must be published hidden so you can't search for them in the Store. They will autoupdate if they're already installed

The Access Point app actually worked well for me here in Sydney, I always go for the $2/day Optus unlimited prepay, used that Nokia utility and it automatically set the APN etc. Great stuff

Sweet I will have a go tonight would be a pain not being able to use 4G when in a country that supports it all because the supplier of the ROM on your unlocked phone decided you did not need it until they were offering it.
It was probably more to save battery power so it won't go out and look for 4G networks.

Flashed the unbranded firmware and it has the 4G option now (which I have set to 3g as I am not in Auckland) will have to borrow my mates sim when i am in town next and test it out.
Also go the access point option in the Settings now too.

I am struggling to understand why Telecom have locked off 4G and would welcome an explanation, I keep coming back to the thought that it is purely anti competitive behavior? I like many I presume would take my phone and buy a local sim when travelling overseas and if a 4G network was available I would want to have the choice to be able to use it.

Whilst the WP8 update policy in general seems to be far better than Android, it would seem that any carrier customization convolutes the process. The henry ford/steve jobs approach generally seems to be far better for the consumer

I didn't want to twiddle with roms on my 920 but it looks like the best option moving forward is going to be to throw a generic non carrier branded rom on there
