Just ordered one from Mobicity, sure I said i'd only pay $200 earlier in the thread but the bank gave me a interest free overdraft today so swayed me :/ Wayy to tempting, will be paid off by the end of september for a peace of mind anyway.

And to be perfectly honest I don't mind paying that much, went out looking at tablets today in stores and even looked at the cheap chinese ones, this one for the price, is actually quite decent. Only issue is HP ditching it :) , other than that, decent screen size, capacitive touch screen, and a year warranty (Not sure how good it will be as I have limited experience with MobiCity). Better than entering a bidding war on trademe and possibly not receiving a receipt etc with it.

I have a funny feeling I was just caught up in the heat of the moment and may live to regret it but ah well, it's only money :p , worst comes to worst and I absolutely hate it I can always take a loss of a couple of hundred and re sell. Now to look for some accessories :D

i think HP USA just sold their new stock in about 3 minutes, status was "Coming soon" then next refresh was "Out of stock"

frustrating but i ain't giving up, lol

djpaubes: Some of the comments on the trademe auctions are not on aye. Its called opportunity.. why are people so mad. Get over it. Questions like I beat your an HP employee. So what if they are. That's the benefit to them for working at HP. Get over it people please.

I suspect the tax dept could be watching people selling them on trademe, especially those selling more that 1, as they possibly be paying tax on the profits.

About these people?

I believe they do have people now checking, but I think it is mainly the professional traders. http://www.ird.govt.nz/ecommerce-tax/onlinetrading.html

Latest mailer has them advertising the 16GB for $797 and the 32GB for $900-something.

Did it occur to you that they didn't print those mailers last night?

Yeah those full colour glossy mailers are printed way out..

did you get a confirmation that they really have stocks on hand?

"Extended delivery" sounds like Elive, Ascent, and every other place that just pretended to have stock on hand.

Good on you if you can get one, I'll believe it once you have it delivered to your hands though to be honest. If I had a dollar for every order promised but subsequently cancelled I would have enough to buy a 32Gb TouchPad at the original launch price.

Another thing to take into account is that $300 for the 16Gb model - is it really actually worth it?

I personally believe it is (once again most likely reassuring myself!). If it's not delivered then I missed out again, not the end of the world really is it? Based off their comments " we have only just been able to lock in a large quantity of cheaper stock today." They seem to think they have a supply assured. Although as you have pointed out this could all change and be cancelled. I will call them in the morning to check up on how many they may be getting and if it is definate or they are still working on the deal. I'd still rather buy one from MobiCity than eBay at the current price of US $225 Without shipping.

I'll keep you all updated. If I don't get one i'm $300 better off again, if I do i'll be happy as well, it's still a tablet at half it's retail price (Although the retail price was a tad high to begin with).

We shall see in the morning what they say about if the stock is definate or not.
