kawaii: Just received it back, looked at the report and Telelogistics claimed that they could find no hardware fault - took it home, turn it on and it crashed three times in a space of a couple of hours. Rang the company up, left a message and hopefully they'll get back to me tomorrow. In all seriousness, did they actually TEST the phone?

Seems like a common problem, my friend got a 920 when they first arrived in NZ and has had trouble with it crashing and having to do a reset to get it going again.

And now my dad just bought a second hand 920 and it does the same thing...good thing its still under warranty.

Did we get a bad batch in NZ???

I think it is more a case of those with problem phones raise an issue while the larger portion of owners are having a great experience and don't necessarily report the fact.

My phone has performed faultlessly but ironically since the portico update (probably unrelated) it seems to heat up faster and I have had a couple of crazy battery drain issues, more than likely a rogue process or app update that has been since fixed but interesting none the less.

Am still loving this phone, not sure how I will feel when the S4 is released, but so far have absolutely no urge to go back to the land of the green robot :P

OK, how many folk have the "screen dimmer has a mind of it's own" problem after the Portico update.

Particularly in evening and morning light, my phone goes nuts.

what do you mean by crash?

are you on portico? What's your os version #?

is your Bluetooth on or off?

a) can't see how dust could get under the Gorilla glass, and
b) I keep my phone nice n' clean

It's behaving itself at the moment :)

Dust in this sensor is a reasonably common issue. I think it sneaks in from the sim card compartment, the headphone jack, or the thing with the 5 dots (speaker?) just above it. You can blow air through it to remove the dust.

That is what I'll be doing, either that or getting a complete replacement which is preferable. If there was the option of the HTC 8X with expandable memory or more than 16GB I'd go for it but so far the Nokia Lumia 920 is the only WP8 on the block with at least 32GB of memory.

I've followed along the Nokia discussion forum and it appears that there is a batch out there, may be the first run? I mean, I don't expect perfection but when a problem is found then I do expect Nokia to 'man up', take ownership and fix it up by just replacing the device rather than expecting customers to go through a rigmarole.

Most of the reports have been around freeze and then reboot where as mine freezes and stays there and never reboots.

For me when it crashes, the whole phone freezes and I have to do a force reset - it can happen up to 3-4 times per day. There is no consistent pattern aka "if I run this application the phone will freeze". Running the latest version (reloaded by Telelogistics and claimed that they tested it) aka Portico. The issue is a hardware fault and I wish Nokia would just man up and say, "sorry about that, here is a replacement" and call it a day.

Sounds like you're having a real bad time of it there with that phone

go back to the retailer and demand a replacement since the repair didn't work and your phone isn't 'fit for purpose'

Resets can take as long as 3 hours, sometimes even longer on the Lumia. God knows why, but don't panic to much yet if its still like that tonight then its possibly time to panic :-D
