Hey i just saw a add on tv2, "theres a thing in my pocket" this is the frist one i have seen on nz tv (not au skytv) witch makes me think that they are about to be released by vodafone here? Maybe new maps then?

Same here, I just saw an ad during the Simpsons and My Name is Earl, on TV3, the same "there's a thing in my pocket" ad, as RBNutz. It's been on all day.

I am hoping the same thing, BETTER MAPS.

Please Nokia and NavTeq, give us better maps.

I am so excited by the realease of it over here in NZ. I would expect that it would mean better maps. I can't wait.

The bad thing, I don't think that they will sell many through Vodafone NZ because anyone who wanted one, has already got one parallel imported.

Can't beat the burble of that American V8. Ohh yea!

Thats a good idea, will try that next.
Have been playing with MGMaps, if only it had downloadable maps (coming eventually). The maps are way better than on the Nokia at present. Vodafone say the N95 will be released here mid-June so we should know if we are getting an updated map and navigation then.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

N95's are already available. I was in a Vodafone store on Saturday getting a 6288 replaced as an out of box failure (charger failed out of box and phone died 3 days later) and they had the phones on display and also lots of signage up for them. Price was $1500 which IMHO is very much on the high side considering imported handsets are going for under $1000 now.

MGMaps is too slow if you ask me.

It takes too long to load each map so even browsing is out of the picture. I was getting frustrated trying to use it, although the maps are excellent and having the satellite pictures is great, the slow download speeds are just too annoying so I can't be bothered with it.

Can't beat the burble of that American V8. Ohh yea!

I doubt there are any vodafone maps, smartmaps is the native maps app and Nokia is responsible for them. Look for a nokia update to arrive soon (hopefully).

I porposely detoured down Lambton Quay yesterday to have a play with the N95 in the Nokia store however I think everybody else in Wellington had the same idea!

Anyone else think their battery life is way better since the firmware upgrade?

In fact I have. I find that at the end of the day, if I haven't been doing much with the phone, the battery is at nearly full when before it would have been about 1/4 left.

I don't want to leave it and not charge it to see how long it lasts because of the fear of not having enough battery to last the next day.

I have gone 2 days with light use and still 3 bars so I am going to try a heavy worwkout this weekend including BT, GPS music, video etc and see just how long it will go on a full charge.

I'm supposed to respect my elders, but it's getting harder and harder for me to find one now.

I gwt about 2 days with light usage. Im used to putting my phone on the charger every night however so it is not a biggie for me.

I am still finding that I get the "rapid discharge" syndrome as previously noted. Phone can go from full to empty in a matter of 2 hours or so and feels quite warm. It is obvious that some cpu intensive process is running in the background to cause this, no idea what however.

This occured both on my old n95 and new.
