Unsurprising - I am assuming other Windows Phones tanked, hard.

Parallel Import ahoy then.

jonb: No plans to release 950XT in NZ, according to Vodafone?

https://twitter.com/vodafoneNZ/status/658792924893835265

"I looked into that further. Unfortunately Microsoft is not releasing the 950XL to the NZ market. However, we will have the 550. "

I am surprised by this, given the uptake on large screen phones these days I would have thought there would still be enough justification to stock it in moderation, it almost seems wrong to not be able to buy a flagship W10 phone locally

To be fair, is it Microsoft that's not stocking the phone or is is Spark/Vodafone/2 Degrees or perhaps a combination of the Telcos and Microsoft not doing it?

Have we heard anything about the 950 (non-XL)?

And this is what Microsoft says officially:

We are working with our Partners to bring the new Lumia 950 and 950 XL line up to NZ. Additionally, both models will be available on the Microsoft NZ online store.

Why not just parallel import, then you're not beholden to what the carrier device choices are.

compost: My guesstimate on NZ availability based on the last mega launch 3 years ago. Any more informed views?

Nokia x20 series timeline vs x50 series timeline:

Announced Sep 6 vs Oct 6
Available in US Nov 2 vs Dec 2?
Available in NZ Nov 27 vs Dec 27?

This timing would not suck only if initial release was also a Boxing Day sale ;)

Sadly my prediction looks to be somewhat accurate so far. Europe delivery by Nov 27, UK by Dec 2, US might be a few days later than this. NZ would be lucky to be before end of year.

Are they? I thought it was "store" no necessarily "NZ Store".

The official statement from Microsoft that you have posted above stated Microsoft NZ online store?

We are working with our Partners to bring the new Lumia 950 and 950 XL line up to NZ. Additionally, both models will be available on the Microsoft NZ online store.

I see that Microsoft Australia store has it available for pre-order as well from their online store.

You could say the same for Apple then as their developers don't do apps for windows cause iFans not to switch to win phone..

Yeah, I bet iPhone users are holding out for Apple Maps on Windows Phone.

That's what RDP is for, I'd never want the mess, or the support calls associated with trying to do that.

"Email me when available" and "Coming soon" means it's not available for preorder. Compare and contrast with the UK site

https://www.microsoft.com/en-nz/mobile/ - "Lumia smartphones can be found on our Australian site. Select the link below to check them out."

I'm assuming that the new 950 & 950 XL will be available through the Australian site. That will mean tax for anyone buying them to import, right? I would really like to see a sample of that promised 4k video though.

Microsoft NZ have already stated they will be available from the Microsoft NZ store, and from a local telco operator there

both incl GST already.

They haven't announced any dates yet.
