Has anyone else had issue with hotspot? When hotspoting to my win8 tablet it seems to break connection every 5 or 10 minutes and the only resolve I have found is to turn phone off and on again, phone is on Telecom

Are you sure is not your tablet? My HP laptop sometimes loses the WiFi connection - to my Cisco router, to my Cradlepoint, to a LG Android and my Lumia 920. It's probably a driver problem and I doubt I will see HP fixing it.

My Lumia 920 had no hotspot problems - provided this to an Android tablet and other laptops and no problems.

The tablet appears to have a normal WiFi connection to the phone but explorer comes up with a no connection screen asking to reset connection

1/ Yes can still access web thru phone

2/ phone shows as having a connected device

3/ will try another device and Report back

4/ tablet has all auto updating etc switched on so should be up to date but will check

please post make/model of your Windows 8 tablet and the WiFi card make/model and device driver too

I assume you can't ping from the Win8 tablet when these happens?
can you try both pinging the internet/IP address as well as the IP of the phone

What happens if you try repair connections on Windows 8, or disable/enable WiFi NIC?

I use the tablet on mine and my parents WiFi networks with no problems or dropouts, so don't suspect tablet of being problematic. That said win8 seems to differentiate between fixed and Mobile (metered) networks so maybe it treats them differently?

Tablet is a Samsung XE500, have just tried connecting an iPod touch and tablet, both worked fine then both lost connection so source of issue appears to be with phone. IPod comes up with an unable to resolve server dns address error message should that matter

On account with Telecom, have no issues consuming data on the phone, only sporadic when tethered

and does stopping/starting Internet Sharing clear this up?

is your phone running Portico/GDR1 (check for updates under Settings, Phone Update)

I've never seen this problem myself or heard of it reported

and I live off 3G Internet Sharing for my internet access at home

Turning sharing on and off is hit & miss, mostly miss, am running portico, might be time to do a full reset and see if that makes any difference
