I read one of the guides, and I did everything it said. but when I pressed finish, on the internet thing on the pocket pc, it said Connection Failed... And, the bluetooth tray icon changed colour, so it must have connected
I've got a pairing, and I can transfer files and things...and I've enabled ICS and I did everything in the tutorial.... but, it's not working :(

What's happening?

edit:
ok, I got my computer to accept the network access session thing but now....I have a windowopen on my ipaq saying:
"Connecting...
Connecting to: BT Network ACcess
Using Bluetooth Null MOdem
Dialing: Connect... "

And, it just stays like that, and it never connects, even though my laptop says that it has connected earlier

Cannot start communications with the desktop computer. The communcations port is not available. Another program may be using the port, or it may not be valid.
Quit any programs that may be using the port and reconnect. If the problem persists, restart your device using the instructions provided by the manufacturer.

I get all that when I try to use ActiveSync now, with the USB cable thing *Sigh* this is annoying me

Check if you have a firewall program running, and also check that you don't have an IP address (192.168.0.1) conflict, for starters.

You'll have to know your network. The IP address 192.168.0.1 needs to be used on the Bluetooth adapter. If you have another computer or a router that uses this address than something can conflict. Check this article for troubleshot information.

I did everything there, and it's still not working....It just pops up a window, and it says "Dialing: connect" and it just stays like that forever

I too had some issues connecting... First off, you shouldn't be dialing...
To check for network issues, click Start - Run - type "command" to bring up a DOS prompt.
Type "ipconfig /all"
This will show you all your network connections.
Assuming you have DSL or Cable, it should show your NIC card with a DHCP IP address. If you are using a router instead it will likely show an address of something like 192.168.~.~, or possibly 10.1.1.~
IF your NIC card shows an address of 192.168.0.1 it WILL conflict with what your BT adapter should be. You will need to change the IP of your NIC card...
In order to work, you need to open your network connections and click on your bluetooth adapter, bring up properties, and properties of TCP/IP. It MUST be set to 192.168.0.1
Once you have that lined out, you'll need to share your internet connection. Since I have DSL and no router, I share my SBC connection, NOT my NIC card.
For the Active Sync to work, you have to make sure that the connection settings allow incoming connections on the right COM port. For me it is COM 4.
Once that is confirmed, turn on the BT on the IPAQ, open the Connection Manager, DELETE the current connections.
Click new, discover services provided. Add the Active Sync. Click that to start it when completed AND when you start it, you MUST, MUST click on the BT symbol in your system tray on your PC. It should pop up a box that asks for permission to connect. Click always and OK.
Repeat for Network Connections - and if you want to connect to the Internet, make sure you set that up in the BT places\services\network on your PC, check the Allow to connect to Internet...
Don't forget, that in order for the Network OR Internet to work, you must first connect Via Activesync. When you do, it retrieves it's network settings for the IPAQ and allows you to connect to the network/internet.
I'm sure I forgot something, but between this and the guides you should figure it out...
OH, don't forget to reset your IPAQ after trying to setup bluetooth also, that helps for some odd reason...

The post is correct, except the dialing part. If the Bluetooth on the Pocket PC is using LAP then it'll show the "Dialing" bubble. It's just a "fake" dial out to the PPP adapter implemented by Bluetooth.

The most probable cause is and IP address conflict. 192.168.0.1 must be on your Bluetooth adapter, and must be unique in your network - including other computers, routers or even ADSL or cable modem.

Ya know what, I had the same problem. I spent 3 hours trying everything everyone has suggested and it didn't help a lick. So I set up wireless sync with activesync went into the Options>Rules and under pass-through selected internet. It may not be as fast as a straight connection but it took me less then 30 minutes to setup and I personally think that the loss of speed is well worth the trouble saved.

You have to use your ISP's DNS.

ok found the DNS setting 81.26.107.2 or 81.26.107.3 I have put these int to the bluetooth connection under my connection. I think i am right in thinking that the connection on the PPC should be left as server assigned. If this is the case my PPC does not connect. If i put these DNS and IP adresses as static it connects. However i still get "page cannot be found " error.
I would really like to get this going as many people have ICS probs. Do i need to install a DHCP server on my PC? Do i need to put something in the default gateway if so what. MY PC IP is 192.168.3 my Router is 192.168.1 My Bluetooth connection is 192.168.0.1.
And my wireless NICis set to internet share.

Please help :)

pigboy306, check that your ICS is set from the adapter facing the Internet to the Bluetooth adapter. Also, check for firewalls blocking the communications.
