Hi Guys

My girl just got me an Okta touch which is awesome. But it cant go on the xt network which sucks but oh well.
The GPS doesnt work on it and I would really like to get it going
I have seen that there is firmware updates i can use to get it working and that many people have.
Could someone please give me a hand getting it working.
I have ROM version : 3.00.781.4
          Radio Version: 3.41.00

Do i need to download GPS software to get it going

Any help on this would be great

Cheers guys

have you tried installing google maps on it and see if it works with latitude first? it will consume some data but there are other things you can get like garmin to map you around. if you can get a model number would be better ... need to confirm if it's an ELF or an ELFIN

ELF? ELFIN?

The Okta Touch is a HTC Vogue - Look under the battery...

Before flashing to the official 6.1 telecom ROM, I highly recommend checking your "hardware version" (Start -> Settings -> System -> Device Information)...

If you have a hardware version of 0001, you might end up with a phone that cannot make or receive calls or txt's.

I had to get the phone number "disconnected" (moved onto a dummy ESN) and then reconnected back to the ESN before it would start working again.

Apparently version 0002 phones are unaffected.

See this post for more info

I have a 0001 version Okta which i flashed and it worked fine however i bought the phone secondhand and disconnected then flashed it then had it put onto my plan so this may have circumnavigated the issue.

As far as GPS software goes i have TomTom Navigator 7 loaded and it works well, and is easily as usable as my TomTom One albeit the audio is no where near as good :P

Flashing is OK... you might find that you'll have to call up Telecom and get them to disconnect and reconnect the phone is all... can be a bit of a nuisance waiting the "up to 4 hours" etc... We have access to managed customer support so things happen a little quicker ;)

As for GPS... you can get Garmin XT, works quite well...

Just don't expect it to sync up to the satellites in like 3 secs etc...

The site linked from my post is the one I followed... I'd just suggest reading the entire page (including comments) before you start:

http://www.geekzone.co.nz/tonyhughes/6309

Insert usual disclaimers about this not being my work, use at your own risk, if you brick your phone don't come crying to me etc... Wink

Good luck...
