Just finished Talos 2 on Playstation, it was only $49 for pre-order and was well worth the money. I played the first version on the iPad a couple of years ago...it's definitely easier on the Playstation (touch controls can go only so far...although you can now pair a PS controller to the iPad). Great puzzles, some new tools to use. Recommended (now going through and completing all the hidden puzzles etc). The basic game took me about 25 hours so good bang for buck.

Oxygen not included - Been a while since I got back into city/sim builders with vast technical aspects where you need to cater for HVAC ducts, electrical cabling, vents., heat, automation, AND/NOR/OR gates etc.

enjoying it!

So I finished Spiderman 2's main story. What a fantastic game! Story was pretty great, the graphics were off the chart as were motion. I preferred the combat of the prior games personally, but overall 8/10 for me.

I still have a few things to tidy up, I think I am at 96%. I did almost all the side quests and collectibles before I progressed the story too far.

Playing "Deliver us Mars" which I got as a free game from Epic Games.

Enjoying it, but wish game developers would not include strongly timed actions (i.e. double jumping to a platform moving away from you). I suspect some of us older adventure gaming players can easily work out what to do, but fast reactions to certain scenarios with rapid multiple combination button pressing needed can be hard.

I think if you have a disc version of a game it can only be played when it's in the machine, even though it's installed locally.

For the risk of being boo'ed out - the new Lego game inside Fortnite that came out the other day is actually really well done and entertaining.

Imagine a combo of Animal Crossing (if that's your thing), Lego games and some Fortnite creative mechanisms. And you can build your village collaboratively with friends.

I signed up to Ubisoft+ for a month to get the new Avatar game on PC. It's very pretty, but it's basically Far Cry Pandora.

Elden Ring. still. 80 hours in and starting to understand it all now, usually after 80 hours on a game I would be almost finished the main quest at least but this one is a bit different.

I considered starting again because I made a few mistakes already but the general concensus is keep going!

Until Wednesday, when Im starting the God of War Ragnorak: Valhalla DLC! :)

The Finals is a welcome surprise for end of year. If you missed older battlefield style gameplay from DICE back in the day this game has the gunplay and destruction.

3 man squad gameplay is great with mates, does a lot better than any FPS out there now (looking at the massive fumble of cod)

Several years later and I'm still waiting for Ghost Recon style Wildlands co op game again.

Have been playing Division 2 for ages as it's great for a drop in and play action but it's same same now and a bullet sponge type situation.

Want something open world you can play with a group of up to 4 online and has some stealth/teamwork aspects.  Something you can back each other up, have a sniper watching over you etc and caters for those who are stealth and those who enjoy when it all goes loud.

Tried the breakpoint version of Ghost Recon but found it incredibly sterile and clinical after the full immersive environment of bolivia in Wildlands.

18.11.23

I have recently started on BG3 and now I understand where you’re coming from. I have played countless games (including types of RPGs) but never a full-flavour D&D game. I had only a rough idea of what lay behind those games.

Most aspects of the game (except the combat) weren’t too hard to pick up - but the combat had me bamboozled. I understood the turn-based combat mechanic but the detail of how it worked and what was going on - yeah nah.

At first I hated it and was just bumbling around in the combat. If I had bought a physical PS5 disc, I would have called it quits and sold it. However BG3 is only available as a download, so I thought “I paid $105 for this and I’m stuck with it - better get to grips with it and get my money’s worth”.

There’s no in-game tutorial that comes remotely close to explaining the intricacies of the combat. I have now spent much time reading many combat guides on the ‘net and watching YT videos on it. I have a reasonable understanding of the offensive side and weapons etc - but still a bit to go on spells, potions etc. Finding it bloody complicated but I’ll get there in the end.

With my improved but still imperfect knowledge, yesterday I replayed some combat involving killing three goblin chiefs - with success and enjoyed it. TBH I am playing on the easiest ‘story’ mode - but under the circs I don’t feel any shame in that.  I think I’m going to end up really loving the game.

Seems I wasn't alone in not understanding the combat, realising I wasn't playing properly - and stopped and re-started from scratch:

I'm now up to about 70 hours on my re-start. Loving the game - it's brilliant.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
