Instead you can go to their house and spend the night watching the progress bar as it downloads a 8-12GB game at 12Mbps. You're right, that IS much better! They will so grateful that night of gaming cost them 1/10th of their monthly data cap :)
I remember when broadband in NZ only offered 512MB or 1GB data back in 1999 and it was expensive. Buying more data was expensive. It's 2013. I have a 150GB data cap on VDSL2 and I pay $125/month. When i get fibre next month, my price will drop to $100 and that will include 300GB data. Someone has to make the push for change to happen.
