Yes fully agree with you on all points

I just Downloaded Linux Yellow Dog 6 for PS3.. Going to put it on my PS3 next weekend.. have to wait to get a backup drive to save all my game files..

Im hoping to use my PC less and less.. and find myself only using the PS3 for everything. That's my main goal anyway.

I basically got sick of always having to upgrade my PC everyone 6-12months..
Im hoping that the PS3 will last me a good 2-3years without spending alot of money on it.

For me i went with the PS3, it just seemed a better buy, the quality of build and the extra bits just made it seem worth the price difference.

Also there's a couple of exclusive's I'm really hangout for - FF XIII, GT 5, Little Big Planet and MGS 4.

All are looking really good, plus the big cross console games will play no issues on the PS3.

And as stated earlier most 360 exclusives end up on the good old PC.

found this on stuff today, thought it would be something to add to this. Mainly the articles at the bottom - people getting so frustrated with 360 they bought a ps3!

that article is terrible. pointless dribble from an obvious xbox fan. i love the comment at the bottom. that 16% failure rate is a bit ridiculous.

It's not really an article, I'd take it at face value as a column, a column written by a person who does like their Xbox 360.

Perhaps that's hard for you to take in, so i'll repeat it: A person who does like their Xbox 360.

The column isn't pointless, either. It's an opinion piece. While I don't want to give you credit (mainly because I think you'll take it where it is undue), you're right about the author being a fan of the system. However, from what i've read, you're a fan of the PS3 - a very big fan who seems to spout opinion as if it were fact.

If the article had been written from the opposite perspective, would you be complaining? I think not.

Again, I own both of the systems, and I use them for different things. I don't care which one 'wins' or 'loses' whichever various battle seems to be taking place at the current time. I'll also tell you that, from a statistical point of view, 1000 consoles is hardly a large enough sample to deduce a reasonable failure rate from, either.

I find it hard to believe that you are so biased towards a console, an assortment of electronic components designed purely for entertainment; People will choose what they feel is better for themselves.

Also, please enlighten me as to what 'Full HDMI' is.

that "article" is just as bad as the column associated with it. seeing as this is a forum comparing ps3 to xbox, yes i will "spout my opinion" just as you have several times too. i had thought i had made it quite clear i am a ps3 fan, for obvious reasons. you have proven by your previous posts that you are obviously a fan of xbox, for very non-specific reasons. and yes, as we have all heard before you own both consoles. hurrah! does that make you feel better about yourself? good, now if you need some enlightenment how about you go play your ps3 as the only enlightenment you'll ever get from your xbox is the 3 red lights that flash up when you turn it on.

i think he means full hdmi to be 1080p capable. ie he meant full hd.

yes, there are a few typos in my signature, and yes i meant full HD not HDMI, i also meant 52" not 32". so sue me, it wouldn't be the first typo in a forum. in fact seeing as it seems to piss you off to much munchkin i think i might just leave it.

Woops, I didn't actually mean to use the word article, only the word comments, as they were the interesting bits, the thing itself was pointless really as it was likely a paid advertisement and if someone could show me something like that (mainly the comments) on a high failure rate in PS3's i would be very interested actually!

I try hard to not be a fan of a particular system, I have mentioned that I don't particularly care which "wins" or "loses". I'm not going to reply to this topic after this as I don't feel as if it is following the true intentions of the thread-starter. However, that is my personal opinion.

But, for the record, I have never had the RROD on my '360.

the original intention of this thread was discussion of the ps3 vs. the xbox 360. i believe for the last two pages this has been done very successfully. most posts have been based on opinion often backed up by fact but in the end what makes a console "the best" is up to the opinion of individual users and what matters most to them in a next-gen console.

i would encourage everyone to keep posting as i think this is a valuble discussion and will ultimately help consumers make their choice as it no doubt did with the starter of this thread. clearly this thread would not be still going if there weren't fans for both sides of this argument. when confronted with hostility people will no doubt be hostile back as you can see. unfortunately boys will be boys, especially when dealing with their toys but i believe this subject can be discussed in a civilised way if people don't get personal about it.

This thread has most defiently help me make my decision up! I always thought that the PS3 was better then the x-box 360 and this thread has confirmed this for me. I dont really have a reason why but to me it seems like the number one choice with x-box 360 coming in second.

Hi Michael,
unfortunately this thread has degenerated in to something of a propaganda/flame war.

As someone who owns neither a PS3 nor an xbox360 I don't have a personal agenda to push.
So you can trust me!

Currently, without question, the 360 has a larger selection of AAA games right now.
It's also true, however, that the PS3 has some great titles coming out this year.

Have a look at metacritic.com to see what I'm talking about:

Note the number of games in the 90's + and 80's +.
The 360 is light years ahead.

The 360 and PS3 can both stream/play all your audio, video, picture files.
I don't see any difference between the two there.
Other than the PS3 has wireless lan built in. Where as the 360 has a regular network port.
You can also replace the PS3's factory hard drive with any 2.5" drive you like. Which is a nice feature.

The PS3 has a built in blu ray player. Which is a huge advantage over the 360 and it's now defunct HD-DVD player add on.
So great for the next gen dvd format.

Personally I think if you want to play games - get a 360.
If you want a home entertainment hub, with games secondary, go for a ps3.
I don't doubt that in the next 2-3 years the PS3 will catch up in the games dept.

Ignore all the rubbish on here about the controllers.
The 360s controllers are fantastic.
Nothing wrong with the PS3s either. Sixaxis is however, at the moment, nothing more than hype.

The 360's hardware woes have also largely been sorted out with the latest version of the hardware.
+ I believe a 3 year warranty is now standard on all 360s.

it's about a year and a half ahead at best simply because it was released earlier, PS3 will no doubt catch up so unless you plan on going out and buying every game you're ever gona own in your first week i think you'll be fine with either console. I would like to note too that by judging from experience Sony will still be supporting the PS3 and producing games for it long after Microsoft stops manufacturing the 360.

You are correct in that Sony has shown with the PS1 and PS2 that they are happy to have a long console life span. But then, we only have the original xbox to judge Microsoft on so far. And you say the above as if it is fact. In your 'experience' you can predict the future? So what if Microsoft stops manufacturing the 360. Then they'll surely follow it up with the next iteration.

This is my opinion and my recommendation. My reasoning is the number of AAA titles available on each system.
And the fact that the PS3 has more to offer in terms of media support (ie; blu-ray).

You make a lot of assumptions. Just because I don't own either console right now doesn't mean I've had no experience with either of them does it.
360 controllers aren't wireless out of the box? huh? That's news to me.
All current versions of the 360 for sale here in NZ come with a wireless controller.
Yes the 360 controllers are larger, and heavier. If you can't handle the weight or feel of one of them you must have tiny almost midget like hands. I assume you aren't a midget?!

Fair point. I agree, it is a nice feature. But is it little more than a gimmick? Time will tell I guess.
Tell me some of the great games that it supports now.

Actually I did read through the entire thread. And I thought my comments were largely quite impartial, although at times not particulary insightful because, as you've pointed out, i've repeated some information. But then, like most message board posts its all just an opinion. Although I do try and occasionally back up my opinions with some facts.
