I bet with the dinky size of the thing that it comes with a bloody enormous power brick. 😄
SpartanVXL: Im not sure why the expected is $450nzd when the msrp is $300usd. I expect a $500-550nzd maybe with game bundle. The series X I’d expect to be $900-1000 ($999?) with it’s $500usd msrp.
Love to be pleasantly surprised but history shows retailers love their margins...
What was the New Zealand launch price for the Xbox One-S?
Because the One-S also started out at $299(US).
Fingers crossed that the Xbox One-X launch price of $499(US) = $750(NZ) gets reused as well.
A grand for a games console would be insane.
Series X or PC upgrade has all of a sudden become Series S and a PC upgrade next year once the RTX series 30 prices drop off a bit.
Add to that a single Xbox subscription across both devices - that's not bad at all.
On engadget review today, Microsoft is looking at expansion slot for hdd upgrade..
"The main downgrade on the tiny new console is the SSD. The Series S has just 512GB of storage, compared with 1TB for the Series X (and 825GB for the PlayStation 5). The Series X will have a custom port that allows for storage expansions and it’s possible the Series S will have this functionality as well, though Microsoft has not confirmed that just yet.”
If so about time, PS been doing this for years

& now this.
"Today, we’re excited to announce the next step in this journey. We are teaming up with Electronic Arts to provide Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC members with an EA Play membership at no additional cost starting this holiday. This means Ultimate members can enjoy EA Play on Xbox One, Xbox Series X and S, and Windows 10 PCs, and Xbox Game Pass for PC members get EA Play on Windows 10."
Pretty good deal, $299 USD will probably translate to $500 NZD and I think that will have a fairly broad appeal, especially for those who don't have a fancy 4K TV
All comments are my own opinion, and not that of my employer unless explicitly stated.

Yes it's hard to fault MS's logic on this - it's a clever move and can't help feeling they have stolen a march on Sony with this - not only with product and pricing but also on timing.
Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.
everettpsycho: Confirmation from ms is out there.
Series s is $549
Series X is $749

Not entirely sure how these prices scale but the series s here doesn't seem the same steal that our is elsewhere. In the UK it's £249 and £449 all the price difference is bigger, weirdly for us the series s seems over inflated and the X under inflated.
Minor correction, Series X is $799 NZD / $749 AUD
Color me pleasantly surprised; it's certainly at the low end of what I was thinking.

Earlier I was saying a partial saving grace might be that Series X will be battling it out with PS5 for the gamer’s dollar and market share - both to be released about the same time. So there may be an element of price competition.
This MS NZ pricing is very interesting in terms of how the PS5 will be priced. Sony will not necessarily need to match MS pricing but will need to compete with the Series X on price so maybe the PS5 will not be as expensive as we might have been thinking.

You can get the Series S for $39/month for 24 months incl GamePass Ultimate for no upfront cost via Xbox All Access through Spark. Series X is $52/month
Hmm... The prices are good. I need to upgrade my gaming-pc but the Series X with gamepass and ea play (I've already got both on my One X) is a no brainer... cheaper and more efficient! The kids can get my one X for a few years and then I'll pick up a Series S for them!
