Starfield reviews are starting to filter through. I like IGN reviews and I have found they generally align with my own experiences and it got a 7/10 which is pretty disappointing.

Apparently, according to some reviews, it takes around 12 hours to start getting 'good'. That's a hell of a long time IMO. Glad I got it for 'free'. I don't think I'd have been super happy if I had bought it.

I paid for the upgrade so I can start today.  Usually, it's only a day or two of advance play, but this is 5 days so I think it's worth it for me, since otherwise I wouldn't be able to play until after the weekend.  I believe it's out at midday today.

Not such a big issue for me.  I tend to find that with the big Assassin's Creed and other types of games where you have to grind for a while to reach a level of competency.  I would just treat that like an extended tutorial section and treat hour 13 onwards as the game.  Also I would hope that timeframe reduces for those more experienced gamers.

Fair enough, I've played most of the AC games bar Origins and I never found it took 12 hours to start having 'fun'.

I can't start till the 6th, and I'll be interested to hear anyones thoughts on it.

Depends on your definition of fun I guess.  There's fun to be had in grinding, but I agree 12 hours is on the high side.

Hoping it gets early access today, steam for me says 5 days time even though I got the premium version.

Has anyone tried to see if their game is working yet, mine isn't.

I will probably buy whatever it takes for early access on the xbox tonight to get a play with it over the weekend and if I get sick again next week which from what I hear going around work at the moment is quite likly.

Read the reviews this morning and, despite @networkn ‘s misgivings, they were good enough for me. So I raced out and bought the Xbox. They’re as scarce as hens’ teeth and only The Warehouse seem to have any around Auckland that aren’t game-bundles - and even then it was only Sylvia Park and Warkworth. Wanted to confirm actual stock in store before driving anywhere but SP wouldn’t answer their phone. Warkworth did answer, with a yes, so I drove up there from the North Shore.

Xbox is up and running. Saw the $1 two-week trial of Game Pass Ultimate so signed up for that. Game is currently downloading. When it becomes playable, I’ll start playing there - then buy the disc and cancel GP before the two week trial ends. Happy days.

(I really like the simple, no-nonsense, UI on the Xbox - compared to the mess on PS5.)

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

Playing with the free AMD copy, must say first 20mins is very much, meh happy I didn't buy it stand alone so far. Especially compared to BG3 and it's start, I really hope the story improves along with the graphics once away from the starting area...

ACG reviews it positively, but, universally, the slow start is mentioned. It was mentioned by Karack, that the start is an important part of the overall story however.

I found a bug/exploit already I think. After killing all the pirates and heading back through the Kreet lab all the looted bodies had fresh ammunition and guns

It currently feels like fallout 4 but in space... that might be due to the Bethesda way and therefore it feels comfortable and familiar to me...
