I disagree regarding Ubisoft Worlds. Both Origins and Oddessey are breathtaking. The detail and scale is mind-blowing. I loved HZD and thought it very pretty. The games are different but Ubisoft recent open worlds are fantastic. Origins has a very cool explore mode that was highly rated too.

I'd say the further into the game and the more I have explored the more impressive it has become. Athens, in particular, was amazing.

I was also pleasantly surprised that combat, puzzles and tasks vary region to region.

Black Flag was previously my favourite, but it was very same and I actually found some parts of the game disturbing, like Whaling and other hunting.

Yeah Ubisoft has been on the top of their game with Origins and Odyssey.

I finished FF7 Remake yesterday.  Holy moly what a ride.  It's pretty linear aside from 2ish areas that have quite a few side quests to do.  But it is a TIGHT experience.  The combat is exceptional, but the story/acting/graphics/score are all outstanding.  There's almost none of the grinding that you get in a game of its size.  It goes from set-piece to set-piece and every few hours it almost feels like it changes into a uniquely different game from the one you were just playing.  I was on the edge of my seat with my gob wide open many times with what I was seeing/doing on screen.  5/5, 10/10, *****, whatever rating you like it's at the top end.  It's the sort of game that other developers must look at and think "OK, we have to go back to the drawing board".

I have never been able to get into JRPG's I just find them... Jarring..

I am not sure why. I know FF series has been pretty well regarded for a long time.

Agreed

I have tried to get into most final fantasy games along with a bunch of other Jrpgs but always come away feeling the characters are generally poorly written and the plots contrived for the sake of it.

FF7 remake is one release this year I am happy to completely skip

This one isn't like a normal JRPG.  It's more like a really long epic action movie that you interact with.

I did try the demo and it reminded me a lot of FF15 which is one of the worst things I have played in a long time 😅

I hate you because you got to play FFVII remake earlier than me.

:)

Yeah the demo is basically the first 30 mins of the game.  It changes significantly during the first 5-10hrs.  But having played 15ish hrs of FF15 recently I can say it is nothing at all like FF15.  FF15 is open world for a start.  FF7 is a tightly linear game with only a couple of places that are semi-open, and only for a dozen or so side quests in those places.

Been stuck into Unturned again with mates. So many people look the other way when its mentioned because of its simple gfx, but the game mechanics etc are great, and we have a lot of fun. Lot of "oh for ***** sake, a bear got me" and "wtf did you run over me ?" moments.

Not sure if it's been mentioned in other posts, but I had a go with Human Fall Flat through Xbox One Game Pass the other day.

Visually, it maybe a little bit block like, but 2 1/2 hours disappeared on Saturday night playing it.

Not sure I'd buy it outright, but for a relatively small download (1.4GB) it wasn't too bad.

Deliver Us the Moon just came out on Xbox Game Pass so I've grabbed that to give it a go, but honestly....I kind of feel like starting FF7 again from the beginning and doing it all over again and trying new material and weapons and summons etc.
