Zepanda66:

Ebgames in Aus are saying second shipment consoles will be delivered next week. Wonder if that's the same for us.

I hope so. Like a smart guy, I traded in my X1X already, and the EB Games "Estimated release date" of 31st Dec 2020 is giving me 😞

And still waiting...

Good thing CP2077 was delayed until December then! Watching some of the Xbox gameplay on CD:PR's YouTube channel, it is quite obvious how much frame rate difference there is between the One X/Series X, especially in the more intensive driving scenes

Haven't heard much more feedback from launch day buyers... I'm guessing you folks are all so quiet because you are busy gaming haha

So, possibly a dumb question but...

I got 2 AA batteries with the controller with my Xbox Series X which I inserted. Do I need to put rechargeable ones in if I want to be able to charge using the USBC or does the controller have an internal battery on top? Or do I need to go and get a charge and play pack like prior generations?

Still need the play and charge. Looks like the only difference is the cable with the new one.

Most retailers seem to be saying sometime around December 15th from what I hear. But still nothing from EBgames...Gonna be annoyed if other retailers get it Dec 15 but ebgames doesn't. Someone on FB was saying they know for a fact that EBgames have been guaranteed a December series x shipment so there's that.... I guess EB don't want to publicly announce any date in case they have a delay with the shipment.

Does the xbox series x support remote play on a Win10 device?

No. They have not added the functionality yet between XSX | XSS and Windows 10. You can use it with iOS and Android only atm.

Do whatever you want to do man.

One of the Eneloop Pro batteries + quick charger kits or the regular version is a fantastic investment for controllers I have found.

Never been of fan of using regular batteries, and ones you can't recharge!

I bought these kits on launch day. The length of USB cable allows you to carry on playing like convention, remote on a wire!!!

I do the same, I thought I'd miss the status charged nature of the Payson and switch controllers but it takes second to pop out the dead ones to replace them and stick them in the charger. I really don't notice it at the eneloops last a long time.

My only gripe with the Xbox pads is I do wish ms would make a nice charging kit like Sony has. The PS4 official charger is a really nicely made thing but ms has always relied on a usb cable or actually removing the battery pack to charge neither of which is as nice as just sitting the controller down. The third party ones airways feel a bit cheap and hacky needing exposed contacts on the battery. In surprised no one has managed to make a qi based wireless charge not yet.

Anyone seen or heard of a special on an Xbox Series X Controller? Or Play and Charge kits? I don't like AA Batteries.

So when the controller states it's chargable via USB-C quickly, it requires additional gear? Batteries or Play and Charge packs?

I believe chargeable via the port is only with the official play and charge kits. Most third party kits have their own ways of charging the batteries, usually a replacement battery compartment with some exposed contacts that will touch the docks they come with. Out the box the pads come with a pair of disposable AA batteries.

The thing to watch for on the cheaper docks is the battery capacity, the eneloops a lot of people use last for ages while a lot of the docks cheap out with low capacity batteries. Not so much an issue for short play sessions but if you will be hammering it for hours on end it's worth knowing. I find the eneloops last me weeks at a time and when it does it's a quick swap on the charger. But I picked up a job lot of batteries when supercheap had then on offer for use elsewhere to help offset the cost of the charger.

Last question, so if the new console is completely compatible with the old controllers, then in theory I could just use those with the kits I have, or transfer the kits to the new controllers?

As far as I can tell, the only difference is the share button functionality, which I certainly don't use and won't miss.

Am I correct on either or both counts?

I have moved my play and charge into my new controller and its working fine other than being old so poor battery life. Got about 20 hours out of the supplied AAs in it first.
