As per my previous post, I phoned them yesterday and was told that they are not expecting to receive their stock from the distributor until the 12th, in which case my order would be shipped out to me on the 13th or 14th and that most likely date of receipt would be the 16th or 17th...

I've got click and collect at Tory St so hopefully that makes a difference.

Not from what they told me!

If the information is right then all units will be shipped from the distributer to either store or customer delivery on the same dates.

The agent told me they have been informed to expect delays in the network for the launch and currently units are expected to ship out to the wild later than the launch day.

I guess they can’t make Sony get their allocation to them any quicker if those are the dates that they are being given?

Of course, they may well be covering for their own shortcomings in the supply chain which I guess is likely if EB and JB customers are getting notifications of receiving theirs on the 12th...

Fingers crossed it will be a case of “under promise, over deliver” but I think it best if us NL customers make peace with getting it at some point during the week of the 16th rather than launch week.

I suspect MS and Sony have been giving retailers the under promise over deliver speech in light of COVID and to help set expectations so we don't see rioting if the consoles aren't delivered within 1 minute of over excited gamer expectations (of which I am guilty) :)

SpartanVXL: All the best to those who get it early. I’ll be onboard once the pro model comes out (as approximated from AMD’s RDNA2 GPU reveal).

This gen will be a good one.

Thanks for that. I certainly will be needing that luck!
Be interesting to see how this gen plays out. The pro model was in response to rapid uptake of 4k and the emergence of VR.
I would be surprised if there's the same uptake of beyond the 8k that the ps5 can do today, given where we are in the cycle and the lower perceivable improvement for average home-sized TV. There's also a lot more to 'just' resolution with games now - playability, load times, online community, as well as ease of use.
Cheers

I mentioned it in a previous post, I reckon the target will be native 4k30 mainly due to the RX6800 being shy of 4k60. The ps5 is only 60% of a RX6800 while the Xbox series X is closer so will likely hit that mark. Adaptive resolution and other fancy up/downscaling will no doubt be used but I have a feeling that we haven’t seen the last of ‘cinematic framerate’.

Just went on NL chat and told them I had ordered on Day 1 of pre-orders - asking what is happening next week. They said “No worries, I can confirm that it'll be ready on that day [12 Nov]. The store will contact you via email or SMS for it's collection time.”

That’s encouraging but I’ll still believe only when it happens.

Yeah - not what they were telling me!

Ah well, it will turn up eventually.

That should be the stickied and automated response to speculation on delivery dates :)

I also got this from Noel Leeming today after asking the question: Customers will be able to collect their stock on the 12th and will get a notification based off their requested type of communication.

I got a pre-order in at EB but not for launch stock, its apparently Wave 2 since it says Expected 2020.  However when in 2020 is the question as they don't know..

The warehouse apparently has two separate pre-order supply chains.
If you ordered in store they will be available for pickup on the day, however if you ordered online they don't leave their online fulfilment centre until the 12th so won't be available to collect from a store for another 2-4 days after that.

Seems a bit strange.

Ps5 supports 120fps. Think 4k and 60fps will be sweet spot. Not many people will be keen to upgrade their TV's to support 48Gbps/hdmi 2.1.

People often make the mistake of looking at individual parts of a console when their sum of parts and software is so much greater than obsessing over gpu's stats

I've had no contact from Mighty Ape on my launch day pre-order. Just logged in to check the order status and it just says expected to ship 11-Nov.

Yea mighty ape pre order here as well. Same shipping date and all. Hopefully it all goes well. I've had trouble with their courier drivers recently delivering stuff to the neighbors for some reason cause we're in a block of flats. An Unit A/B situation. Sometimes they just dump our stuff next door its infuriating. And they know which is the right unit to. The stuff ups usually happen when its same day delivery if its standard overnight delivery I seem to get better quality service its weird and the items arrive at the front door and I dont have to go treasure hunting around the flat lol. I'm hoping the fact that its standard delivery and I need to sign for it will mitigate any delivery problems. I've read stories on reddit about people having their ps5 controllers and headphones stolen that were shipped early. Which isn't great.

It's still 2020 so I'm expecting the distribution to be at least as much of a disaster as everything else this year.  As long as I have it by the time I take my month of annual leave in January I'll be happy.
