everettpsycho: I ended up taking it back in the end, it was just too much money when there's too much going on in life, with routine changes for a little one and building a house I just don't see me investing a lot of time in to games in the coming months and $800 is a decent amount for any unexpected expenses. Once we move in to the house I'll reconsider and hopefully there will be some options available then. For now it's back to the old one s digital, which considering in mainly playing dead cells at the moment is actually good enough.
Hard choices! But yeah, makes sense from what you have described.
One X's seem to be going for about $300 and Jedi Fallen Order plays pretty well on it (speaking from experience) :)

Noel Leeming have stock.
I just bought some XBOX wireless controllers but didn't know that they ran off batteries whereas my (now sold) Playstation controllers were rechargeable. I was thinking of buying some eneloop pro batteries (x4 AA) and a charger for $40 total but also saw that there's a recharge kit you can get for XBOX controllers. What would you guys recommend?
I went the Eneloop route. Use the batteries until they are dry, then swap them out for some charged ones and pop the other ones on charge to be ready to go next time.
My Xbox Controller usually lasts 1-2 weeks, usage dependent. And they are always handy for other things in a pinch.

I bought some of the re-charge packs from EB Games, they worked fine on my XBox OneX, but the XBox Series X controller has a different charging port, so the charger is a waste of time.
However, since then I've moved on to Elite Series 2 controllers and charge them on their dock instead, which is easily the best solution I've come across to date. Plus... once you've had a Elite Series 2, it's hard to use the standard controllers again. However, due to their reliability, you will need to go back to std controllers from time to time ;-)
I'd be keen to hear if anyone has a good quality charger cradle with decent batteries that charge via USB-C, are Black (my controllers are black) and importantly, have well-fitting battery covers.

Of the ones I have Nyko is the best. easiest to make contact and good battery covers. It's for the one controllers, not X controllers though so YMMV. These are also the highest capacity, the other ones I have are 800mah vs Nyko at 1100mah.
This looks like a series x version: Nyko Charge Base for Xbox Series X|S & Xbox One | JB Hi-Fi (jbhifi.co.nz)
It really irks me that extra storage costs half the price of the actual console itself.
