Quake 2 RTX is just pure fun.  I remember all these levels so vividly!

I started playing Control again on my new gaming PC.  Holy cow, I thought Xbox One X looked good.  This game is freaking amazing on an RTX card and 144hz monitor!

I thought it was the weirdest mix of amazing and dreadful!

Environments and FX were sublime, character models were "ok" but almost all of the faces of characters were terrible imho - looked really plastic and dead and 2013. Was very strange.

Is there a version that isn't totally fugly? I'm not a huge graphics snob but....

Hi.

So, I thought it had been given a community graphics pack that made the graphics fairly modern, but I don't see it ever got completed. At the time I was playing, more years now that I had thought or care to think too much about as it shows my age, it was looking pretty good at higher resolutions, but perhaps my memories are more romantic than reality.  Sorry, I may have given you a bum steer. Gameplay was awesome in the day, but looking at recently gameplay videos, I agree, probably not good enough :)

I'd love to see a RTX of the Quake 3 Arena, which includes my favourite multiplayer map of all time on any game ever, The longest yard!

Nope. Doesn't look like I got the right game or level.

Unreal Tournament - Morpheus was the game and level I was thinking of!

Best fun!

All good. Graphics are relative - if it's a game that you know and like accepting old graphics is much easier than a new game.

Just played the prologue of Star Wars Squadrons.  Very very fun, and very intuitive flight combat controls.  I played on PC with an Xbox controller.  By the end of the prologue you've played as both a Tie Fighter and an X-Wing, and you know all you need to know.  But I'm stopping here and won't reload it until my Reverb G2 headset arrives.  This game is begging to be played in VR!

Arena was when I got off the Quake train.  All my friends were playing that and Unreal Tournament but I was all about single player stuff.  Still am really.

Saw an ad for a remake of Need for Speed Hot Pursuit yesterday.  That was the last N4S I played that hooked me.  I didn't enjoy many of the follow-ups so I'm pretty keen to get it and relive some of the old maps.

Finished Deus Ex: Mankind Divided a few days ago - 7.0/10

To sum up, it's a reasonably imaginative game that certainly gives you plenty of different solutions to a problem. But like most stealth-based games (you can choose to shoot it out in a lot of situations but that would be out-of-keeping with the main character's role as a law enforcer to kill other cops in many of the levels), whether you succeed in stealthing your way through is often more by luck than good management. And a lot of the game world tropes are totally arbitrary: hack a locked up/restricted room and the enemies will shoot like mad; obviously emerging from a previously locked and restricted room? No problem. Same with just randomly crawling through any building's vents and so forth.

A lot of the story's themes have great resonance with today's times but the biggest let down of the game is how naked commercialism entirely took over creative decisions. The game was set up to have a cliffhanger ending plus left all kinds of unresolved strands that go well beyond what is the norm for creative-decisions-driven only cliffhangers. You know they wanted to sell you another few more games - anyone can tell that well before one finishes the game. And as many will know, this game didn't sell and the Deus Ex series is essentially "on ice". I got this on PS4 for about $15 bucks so can't complain all up but it wouldn't be worth RRP back in the day.

Now playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider - absolutely loving it so far. The levels are tighter and better integrated than the first two games and the action + the scenery is great.

Be aware that there is a pretty disappointing bug with Star Wars Squadrons and displays over 60Hz, including VR.

The game appears to duplicate frames despite frame counters reporting higher. If the game is set to 120Hz it generates frame 1 & 2 but repeats the second frame another two times. People reporting that the engine is hardlocked to 60fps and can’t go higher, using the duplication to make up for it.

At least that's patchable.  In my experience playing the prologue it at least played smoothly with no issues.  I'm not a refined enough eye to know if there were problems, but in my perception it was fine on a 144hz display.

As per my earlier posts, I am totally blown away how much better later games in this series are. I enjoyed all the modern versions of this game. I still have the last one to play. I got a bit TR'd out as I played 3 of the games in quick succession.

The only thing I find with this series, is that there isn't really any sense of "need" to collect collectables as I did with Spiderman and Batman games. The solving puzzles in Batman was pretty satisfying, though I never got them all.

Slightly OT, however, does anyone else have trouble charging their PS4 Controllers and accessories with anything other than the USB port of their PS4? I have a number of smart chargers, not one of them will charge the PS4 controller?

I'm using a Sony dual charging dock at the moment, connected to an Orico four port charger I got from PBtech a year or so back. I think I also used an Anker charger at one point. The Orico works directly connected also.
