That was a very good Dratini event; even with all the issues (didn't affect me as much as others I was travelling with)

Do like that Niantic doubled the event time frame in APAC due to the issues. Managed to catch 12 shiny Dratini, haven't yet decided if I evolve any. Best catch was a 93% regular and I evolved a stored 95% to get Draco Meteor.

The only downside was at the end of the event I went to the car and found I had a flat battery - not sure how as no electronics were left home
Thankfully I was able to get a jump.

And this morning I got my first EX Raid invite for the 10th March, on a gym that had not had an EX Raid
Had done two raids, one on Friday for a Rayquaza and one on Saturday just before Community Day for a Tyrantiar

I was at Hurstmere Green in Takapuna which had 4 pokestops, all lured up, and if you sat in the right place you could reach all 4 pokestops without moving. There were about 30 other players in the park. When the event started my Dragon Tamer badge was sitting on 49.

My first Dratini catch was a shiny, but only CP10. We continued to play till about 6PM when my partner decided that she needed to get some dinner, so we walked across the road to a burger place and spent about 40 minutes there (there was a pokestop right on top of the burger place, so throughout dinner I was able to spin that and also catch the odd Dratini that popped up).

We then walked back across the road to the park and carried on catching till 7PM. By that time I'd caught maybe 100 Dratini and had 6 shiny's. My partner hadn't caught any shiny's. Most of the people had left the park by that time but since the Dratini's kept appearing we stayed and kept catching them (didn't know that the event had been extended). Around 7:30PM we started heading back to the car because it was getting a bit cool and we walked along the beach and kept catching Dratini. My partner finally caught a couple of shiny's, so that made her happy.

As we drove away Dratini were still popping up, so we kept catching them when we could. We had to stop at Countdown on the way home and the parking lot had several Dratini in it, so we grabbed them. We took a round-about route to get home, stopping at a few places that had pokestops and refilling our bags and catching more Dratini.

Finally got home around 9:25PM. I checked my Dragon Tamer badge and it was sitting at 173 so I dropped off my partner (who had had enough by that stage) and did a circuit of the neighourhood to pick up more Dratini to get my gold Dragon Tamer badge. Got back home around 9:45PM, Dragon Tamer badge sitting at 208 (so I'd caught a total of 159 Dratini during the event) and 8 shiny's.

Had 6 days in the North Island; couple of days in Napier, overnight in Palmerston North and the rest in Wellington

During that time I of course caught Pokemon; used Palmerston North's map to get a couple of 100% IV Pikachu (with hat) (sadly no shiny with hat) and Wellingtons map to get a couple of Bagon/Beldum for candy (most were always too far - no car) and also sadly since I was last there the number of Karp spawns has dramatically decreased, and none I found gave me a shiny - so the hunt continues (via raids). I did however get my 3rd shiny Swablu (with again very poor IVs)

Managed to also stay in gyms to get coins each day, except in Wellington where I managed approx 60 coins over 2 days.

Just read on TSR that Ingress changes are being pushed into PoGo. My EX raid location (a stone from Scotland) is no longer physically at the location .. so I have a horrible feeling that the gym will be removed before the 10th ..

Did the EX raid on Saturday, managed to get a 93%. Also received a second invite for the 17th; sadly I am out of town (but have organised someone to do the raid for me - because I have the 93%, I am not that worried if it runs)

We were at Hurstmere Green for Dratini Day too, @MurrayM - my son caught 16 shinies across his two accounts. I could barely play for the first hour and a half and was pretty salty about it, but cheered up once they extended the event. Before the connection problems were fixed I found my first shiny (530CP!) which errored out on me, and then I couldn't get the game to reload. Finally got back in, found the same Dratini again - still shiny - threw a golden razz and an ultra ball at it, and the game froze on the catch sequence. More stress as I restarted and then checked my inventory to discover it had been successfully caught. Phew! I ended up with 6 shinies and a 98IV regular that was around L33. I evolved a couple of stored Dratini to get Draco Meteor and a couple of the shiny ones to get a shiny Dragonite and Dragonair.

We seem to have well and truly sussed out the EX raid system now - over the two waves that went out this past weekend the members of our group got passes for 7 different gyms. I already had one for March 10th from the previous wave two weeks ago, and I got another for the 17th from the wave that went out on Saturday morning. I caught a 96% Mewtwo on Saturday. Pretty stoked with it.

We have a system whereby we decide on our targets for the week (based on gyms we know meet EX criteria) and then try to do any legendary raids that pop up. As soon as a target gym gets a decent amount of activity (around 20 accounts) then we all try to do any raid possible there so that everyone gets their name in the hat at least once. Lather, rinse, repeat. Murray, if you're raiding this week, I recommend popping by Becroft Park, Marlborough Park and Kaipatiki Park. Any raid will do, even a Swablu. Oh, and the last two passes I got were for my top two gold gyms, and I am level 39, so they seem to have fixed that part of the selection criteria.

I'm thinking of going back there for the next Community Day, it worked out really well.

I'll keep an eye out for raids at those gyms, but they're not on my usual route to / from work which it when I do most of my Pokemoning.

A friend at work got an EX raid invite and he ended up catching a Mewtwo. It was in Kansas (he's a spoofer).

Yes, we'll be back at Hurstmere for the next one (unless it's pouring with rain, in which case we might lure Kaipatiki Park instead because then we can stay in our cars). It's our normal grinding spot because there are so many Pokestops and the library seems to spit out event spawns like crazy. We just wander back and forth between there and the green and pick up twice the Pokemon.

Maidstone Park in Upper Hutt is like that. 10 stops and a gym in a nice 7-8 min walking loop. Lure them all up and it goes absolutely nuts.

Also has two other gyms nearby including our most popular EX gym.

How is everyone's hunt for a shiny Lugia? I managed to get one on my 6th of the day - was only 82% IV, but at least I got one (two people I was raiding with managed to get 3 shinies over 10 raids)

I also managed to get my 3rd EX raid invite after doing several solo raids at the location

No shiny ones yet. But have only done two Lugia raids since they came back. Life got in the way.
Might do some more this weekend though. The kid needs one as she was taking a break from the game until Groudon was released so has some back catalogue to collect.

15 Lugias for me so far, and no shinies yet. Did nine in a row on the weekend. At least my catch rate has improved. I was 5/15 before, now I'm 17/30, so it's gone from 33% last time to 80% this time. I think it helps that I've changed my throwing tactic for this one. His attack animation is so long that the "set circle and throw after the attack" trick isn't working for me, so instead I set the circle super big and then just wait for Lugia to do his drift down from the top, and throw as he's descending. The circle reduces to small during my throw and I hopefully get a great or excellent. It was windy on Sunday and I caught three very nice weather boosted ones with 15 attack and over 90% IV. Now I'm just doing it for the shiny.

Looking forward to community day - hoping to catch a good Bulbasaur because my best ones have already turned into Venusaurs (including a 100%) and I can't TM them to Frenzy Plant, which is going to be a great move.

I'm also hoping for a double candy event for Easter so I can transfer my extra legendaries. I've got more than 30 Rays to ditch.

I came back from Christchurch on Saturday and on Sunday did 10(!!) Lugia raids, and yesterday did 6 Lugia raids .. with as mentioned, one 82% IV shiny

On the first run of Lugia I had terrible luck, only catching my first on the 9th encounter and ending up with a 2/15 success rate. At the start of Sunday, it was looking like my terrible luck was going to hunt me again, until I caught the shiny. Since then I have managed to catch all the Lugia's I have encountered - most have had terrible IV's and I ended up trashing the majority of them last night.

Over the last few weeks Niantic have been pushing new versions of the game to Android's, with the majority of those once again causing issues (and espy issues with the GoPlus)
I was hopeful that since the iOS update had not been released, that an fixed update would come out .. but alas, the iOS update came out yesterday .. so it will eventually be forced and cause my GoPlus to fail ..

While I love the game I really wish Niatic would learn some basic quality control and test the game before release - in the real world

You might be alright - the iOS update that came out yesterday was alongside the third version of the Andriod update and lots of people on The Silph Road are reporting that their Go Plus has never worked so well.

I've got less than 2mil XP to get to Level 40 now. My sister got there during the double XP event and I managed to get from the end of 38 to 39 and halfway to 40. Our raid group has 17 level 40's now. Unless someone else beats me to it (which may well happen) I'll be number 18.

How was everyone's Community Day?

I managed to get 5 shiny Bulbasaur (best was a 78% IV) and evolved a stored 95% IV regular in order to get the new moveset.
Lower turnout (several of the instinct L40's I "hang" with did not make it ..

Also did far too many Lugia raids, with my success rate in capturing falling dramatically.
Did however managed to get another shiny Lugia though (80% IV)
