KiwiNZ: How are folks finding the voice commands, "Xbox On" works about one in every 1000 attempts for me. Once the machine is running the commands are about 60% successful

Reasonably good, find it handy to walk in the door "Xbox On", "Goto netflix", go get changed, come back and netflix all ready waiting for me without having to touch a thing.

Heh I'd like that too, but I'd need it to switch on the Projector, AV Amp, etc all at the same time!

I think my neighbours believe I am going insane or having some weird relationship with an xbox, shouting "Xbox on" a gazillion times and trying different voices. If I could stand on my head and shout it I would try that.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Can't be any worse than in "her". (Movie, well worth seeing).

I don't use xbox on because I have a harmony remote and getting stuff out of sync with that is a pain.  I've got the language set to UK english and seem to get ~80% success rate.  Some phrases are better than others.   "xbox record that" seems to be on the low end, but "xbox pause" and "xbox play" seem to work well.   My biggest issue is if someone else decides that they want to start a conversation while I'm trying to say a command.

"Anna" in FH2 has 100% for me so far.   Although the way I play mostly I've been telling her 'no'.   I think she was getting worried about me when I was getting the last of the 315 roads. "Are you sure you wouldn't like me to navigate you to a bucket list?"  no.. there is a small peice of road 14km away that MUST BE DRIVEN.

I've never gotten that to work so I assume that its not implemented.  Also, I find that voice commands sometimes don't work unless I open the Kinect config menu as if to configure the sound. Other than that is seems ok.

the xbox can be configured to IR Blast a set top box, amp, and TV.  you could try using those functions along with 'boot to tv' to make it all come on automatically.

(disclaimer: haven't tried this myself, but my XBOX happily IR Blasts my Windows Media Center 'set top box' and turns on the Samsung plasma screen)

Ok so a bit more investigation, internal game racing seems smooth enough (I still think frame rates are dropping occassionally beneath 30fps but have no way to verify), it's the loading screens, seems like when it reads the HDD the whole system is shuddering. Unsure if anyone else is seeing that?

It seems to take a long time to load races too.

I've not seen anything along those lines, however I'm using a fast external drive (not at SSD/Hybred speeds, but about as fast as consumer grade disks go).

Is there a HDD self test in the Xbox 1?

I am curious in case I have a HDD issue.

Edit: Others have reported slowness in loading screens and assigning points at the end of the races to be server related.

One thing about FH2 is how great the sense of speed is? Ripping through crowded streets at 350kmph in a P1 is fairly breathtaking.

The latest update giving the ability for custom background is cool. Now we need live tiles and the ability to resize individual tiles.

So is anyone able to confirm that MS has region locked thier digital downloads? I just read a couple of sites where people are saying they bought codes from places like Amazon, installed and used games for a few days or weeks and then couldn't access it any longer, and MS advised them it had been removed for breaching regional locks applied? Surely this can't be the case? Anyone able to confirm?
