I managed to get the ultimate addon for Forza Horizon 4 last night, at 60% off. Fantastic value for what you get. I had great fun with the kids in the lego addon for a couple of hours last night.

This weekend, if I get time, I'll try and play deathloop.

Keen to hear what you (and @michaelmurfy) think of Deathloop.

I bought an EKWB heatsink for my SN850 and installed that last night. Works a treat!

where did you get the heatsink from?  PBtech seem to be out of stock (maybe you bought the last one?)

Check Mwave they seem to have EKWB with different colour options too. (https://www.mwave.com.au/searchresult?button=go&w=Ekwb+ek-m.2&af=)

That's about same read speed I got from Aorus 7000s 1tb ssd

Seems fine, there is only a minimum read speed of 5500MB/s. There are videos of people already testing this model.

I mentioned it before but heatsinks aren’t really necessary for the majority of operations the ps5 would do. There is airflow from the intake, despite it appearing sealed.

I measure my nvme temps in my pc’s (Crucial p1, WD SN850) and they don’t go over 50C when in use without heatsinks.

It's compatible.  I ordered one the other day as neither of the M.2's I had around at home were Gen4 Best PS5 SSDs: Which M.2 SSDs are compatible? - The Verge

You'll need the heatsink.  I got this one: Buy the EKWB EK-M.2 NVMe Heatsink - Black ( EK-M.2 NVMe Heatsink - Black ) online - PBTech.co.nz except mine is red so it'll make it go faster.

Comes with a thermal pad, it was a bit fiddly to install the clips but you'll get there.

Just don't do what one of the YouTube muppets suggests and leave the M.2 bay open to get more air over the fins.  It needs to be sealed again to help with the negative pressure for ventilation.

The reality is, that the difference between a device that will write 3000MB/s and one that will write 4500MB/s isn't relevant for console gaming. If you think about that for a second, how often would more than 3000MB be moved at once during play, vs 4500MB and the difference between 1 and 1.5 seconds to do it.

Sadly I missed the PNY special myself, but will just find the next cheapest thing on special. It's annoying that most M.2 SSD's don't come with heatsinks if they are required.

I definitely rate the EKWB heatsink, was super easy to install and quite cheap.

While I'd say it's not an issue now we don't know what will happen as more developers leverage the hardware overall. There is also the compression hardware that sits over the top of the drive as well so the effective system throughput is higher than the drive.

It's going to take a bit for savvy developers to really squeeze out the true throughput but as asset content increases in size it's not going to be hard to start pushing the amount of data flung around.
