@nzkiwiman I'm going to open your gift on Sunday when Community Day starts so pop an egg on if you want the extra XP!

Also, I am at 700+ Aipom without a shiny.

I wondered if you were ghosting me all of a sudden, but then assumed this was the actual reason.

All good, I also have an EX raid in the middle of Community Day - so I will have to deviate from my original CD walkabout route (I also hope the weather starts getting better .. terrible day here today)

Once again we were treated with another bug filled release of app version 0.143.0 that added lucky Pokemon stardust cost being quadrupled (or something similar), and then 0.143.1 that fixed the issue but broke PVP even more and of course didn't fix any of the issues introduced since 0.141.1. *sigh*

I really hope that they get a few people onto fixing the myriad bugs in the game. I know a lot of them are just irritating and cosmetic, but it is getting a bit ridiculous.

Cool - I will open your gift between 3pm and 3.30 pm on Sunday, thanks! I haven't actually been very active in the game the last couple of weeks because my son had influenza and we've been trapped in the house, so I've not had a lot of gifts to send and I don't like to receive and not reciprocate!

I don't know how many Aipom I've checked, but it's a lot and no luck with a shiny either 😭

I'm getting close to 800 total and I don't think there's any way I can have seen more than about 150 before this event; they're not that common and I never really bothered to click on them after I'd caught a good one.

I just noticed the difference between male and female Aipoms. At first I thought it's head looked a bit different, then I figured out what it was.

After not managing to get a shiny Buneary or Diglett, I thankfully finally managed to get a shiny Aipom (weather boosted, 87%)
I also managed to get a shiny Seel via the GoPlus, so that was a definite win.

Seems like TSR have managed to reach out to Niantic and warn them of just how broken PVP is in the latest update (though it does seem to be an Android issue) - Lots of TSR tournaments happening soon in the PVP world. App version 0.143.2 is apparently out there somewhere but no word on what it fixes or breaks.

I am heading to Europe again in a week - and of course they announced a raid day event for the day I leave .. meaning I will miss the event just like I missed the last one with Gengar

I did quite well for shinies yesterday - 11 Torchic and an Aipom, to my great surprise. My sister didn't get any shinies until the last hour and then got six (including a three-in-a-row streak). Unfortunately, I was one of those who tried to teach their Blaziken Blaze Kick as a second charged move after Niantic accidentally removed it from the move pool when the CD window closed. I wasted somewhere between 10 and 12 charged TMs before I went onto Silph Road and discovered others were having the same issue and had used upwards of 20. I've put in a support ticket asking for my items to be reimbursed but I suspect if I get anything it'll be a couple of raid passes and some dust. I hope they improve the drop rate from lower-tier raids during the raid week to help those who lost a lot of TMs replenish their supply.

Well, app version 0.143.2 was pushed before Community Day and may have been needed to make all the new things work.

My quick play - I haven't found any new bugs but some of the existing gym bugs are still there - I don't do PVP, so not sure if the shield/charge move bug is still there.

Woke up to a lot of news on Saturday - the "final" wave of Gen4 was released, which just a few random Pokemon still to go (Mime Jr, Rotom and some Mythicals). Managed to get a sample of some of the new Pokemon, though missing Gible (as expected). Also new lures - with the help of people I was able to get the new evolutions in, though I am looking for another mossy lure as I forgot to do my lucky Leafeon.

Community Day was as expected - caught a ton of Torchic, and 14 shinies. None were any good, so only the best three were caught - decided against keeping any for spares, because no one wants them.

In preparation for CD as well as my pending European holiday I once again "got tough" with my storage - got rid of anything from 2018 onwards that I had marked as trade, 2017 and 2018 Kanto Pokemon that I had marked as trade went to Let's Go, along with some shinies I was just holding onto and even deleted any of the new Gen4 stuff found prior to Sunday. As a result I entered Community Day with 331 spaces free .. I expect that to be down to around 320 by the end of the week.
I already have requests for Corsola (from my 24 hours in Singapore) as well as Pink Shellos (from my 7 hour layover in Heathrow) ... hopefully I am able to secure some (last years layovers in Dubai did not get me a Torkoal)

littleheaven - you were quick with the best friends, I had just put on a lucky egg as the notification popped up

Oh, oops, it was all a bit frantic and I didn't have my correct glasses on so I may have misread the time on my phone - glad your egg made it before the friendship did! I really need to do a good clean-out of my Pokemon storage. Now lucky friends are a thing I've let go of some random older stuff that I was keeping just to try to raise lucky odds. I've probably got 100 things marked for trade/reroll I could dump right now. This game does not help me get rid of my tendency to hoard Pokemon, given that they keep making them important for one reason or another after I've thrown them out, lol.

Out of 160-odd Torchic checked I managed 3 shiny, and those were in the last hour of CD. I was beginning to think that I wasn't going to get any at all!

It certainly seemed like everyone had more success at the end. I got nothing in the first hour, but in the last 15 minutes, I think I got three or four.

Nothing in this thread since I have been in Europe; how disappointing

Europe was kind to me with 10 regular shinies (Aipom, Rattata, Anorith x2, Lillip, Cressella, Latias (Research), Mawile, Snubbull and Geodude.
Sadly no Onix or Horsea.
Also 8 shiny Slakoth from the weather affected Community day - at 4pm weather disappeared from in game and so did Slakoth ...

Now back home and making plans to go to Japan for GoFest - I have entered the drawing for a ticket, looked at flights and hotels and can make it work (just)
If the flight sells out, then so does my plan - every other option doubles the flight cost ...

Probably an accurate representation of the state of the game at the moment, lol. I'm barely playing beyond doing my daily streaks. I'm quite disappointed that they are repeating the mistake of last year where they basically let day-to-day gameplay stagnate over the summer and there was nothing to encounter but the common spawnpool for months.

That said, GoFest weekend was good fun. I got two shiny Horsea, a Psyduck, a Snorunt, a Drifloon (I was so happy) and a Cubone. Since then I've also caught a shiny Misdreavus called Olive :) There was a lot of speculation that shiny rates were nerfed pretty hard after the first day, though my son got about five on the Sunday afternoon which seems more than just good RNG.

We did Slakoth Day in the local Westfield because it was so darn cold and windy (like 40km sustained southerlies) and got heaps, but the most exciting part was catching a weather-boosted Gible on the drive home.

I do hope something interesting happens outside of the GoFest weekends and raid afternoons. Weeks of nothing but Barboach and Gulpin are so tedious and make me not want to catch anything. All they need to do is tweak the normal pool to include a slightly higher chance of rarer things spawning. I barely even see things like Ralts or Machop these days, even when they're weather boosted. There are some interesting things in the code for the latest version, though, like NOEVOLVE versions of Pokemon and mentions of purified Pokemon, and Mewtwo_A, which a lot of people are assuming is Armoured Mewtwo. Groudon leaves raids the day before Mewtwo Evolution comes out in Japan so maybe we'll see a special forme in raid battles.

Apart from that, I've been playing the Wizards Unite beta and that's filling in the boring gaps between PoGo events.

I switched to Wizards Unite when the Beta dropped and been enjoying the usual Niantic shenanigans while they tweaked things to try to find the right level.

Enjoying it far more than PoGo as that had really stagnated into multiple re-releases of the same things I had many of, but maybe in a different colour.

Yeah I'm just keeping my streaks alive and jumping into the gym outside my work but not really doing much else.

I did manage to find a shiny Diglett yesterday and last week's Research gave me a shiny Latios, so that was neat.
