Has anyone picked it up today?
I was really looking forward to it (being a big fan of the series) but it is really getting cut down in reviews, what do you guys think?

Would like to but I've got a bit of a back catalog of games to get through :)

One of my friends got it, posted this "Sega you stuffed up big time!! Alien colonial marines, sh!t graphics, sh!t game play trust me do not buy waste of cash!!!" (censored for GZ filters, but otherwise direct quote)

So looks like a flop (and a very overpriced one at that!)

Wow. Under 50% on metacritic. Pretty rare for a such a big budget title to be so panned.

I picked up a Steam key for it pre-release for US$37.50 on Green Man Gaming so I didn't get too burnt (it was US$99.95 on Steam at the same time), but I have to admit it's not very good. I went from playing Far Cry 3 (awesome game) to ACM and I think it made it feel like even more of a let down since Far Cry 3 looks so good and has such engaging gameplay and story. The first 10 minutes showed a bit of promise but it soon turns into just another generic first person shooter, with a few lines from the movies thrown in.

I keep promising myself that I won't buy another game pre-release and then go and do it again...

Damn.. I've been watching reviews of it online etc and it looks like the textures are from 2007, the sound effects and voice acting sounds good though, gameplay doesn't look too bad. Looks like it's a renting game for me then!
I'm guttered!

I was really looking forward to this game, I was hoping to relive some of my childhood memories of me and my mates playing AVP on the library LAN.

Guess I might pick up the Doom 3 re-package instead, looks pretty good.
